Marvel Studios’ ‘X-Men’ reboot has kept fans on their toes for months, with a steady stream of casting rumors swirling around nearly every significant role in the mutant ensemble. The role of Rogue, in particular, has garnered intense speculation due to her status as one of the franchise’s most cherished characters, with no actress officially confirmed for the part.

Odessa A’Zion has surfaced as a prominent name in this speculation, capturing the interest of fans eager to see if the rising star will join the iconic franchise. This buzz has accompanied A’Zion throughout a breakout phase in her career, which has included acclaim for her performance in “I Love LA” and roles alongside notable talents in projects like “Marty Supreme.”

When asked directly about the potential role during an interview with Extra, A’Zion provided a coy, noncommittal answer rather than confirming or denying the rumors. She mentioned that she genuinely wasn’t sure if she could address that question, stating she truly had no idea, according to Extra.

Such deliberately vague responses have become a common strategy among actors navigating the Marvel Studios rumor mill, where casting announcements are typically kept under tight wraps until the studio is ready to unveil them.

A’Zion’s response neither confirmed nor denied the speculation, leaving fans to ponder whether her coyness indicates genuine uncertainty or a strategic evasion linked to a confidentiality agreement. Given Marvel’s history of actors publicly denying roles that later turned out to be true, her careful wording has only intensified curiosity among fans eager for confirmation.

Beyond the ‘X-Men’ speculation, A’Zion has experienced a notable year both professionally and personally. In the same interview, she candidly reflected on her rapidly rising fame, describing the experience as genuinely strange and somewhat frightening at times, while also recognizing the incredible opportunities it has presented, including collaborations with filmmakers and actors she never imagined working with.

However, her rise has not been without controversy, as A’Zion made headlines earlier this year after stepping away from A24’s “Deep Cuts” adaptation following backlash over her casting as a character described in the source novel as half-Mexican and half-Jewish. A’Zion, who is Jewish but not Mexican, publicly acknowledged the criticism and admitted she hadn’t fully read the book before accepting the role, ultimately deciding to exit the project.

With the casting process for Marvel’s ‘X-Men’ reboot still unfolding and speculation continuing to circulate around various roles beyond just Rogue, A’Zion’s noncommittal response keeps the door open for future confirmation without providing fans with anything concrete to grasp just yet. Given how often Marvel actors have navigated direct questions before eventual reveals, her response aligns with a familiar pattern that has become standard during the studio’s increasingly secretive casting announcements.
