Disney has been strategically managing the ticket sales for ‘Avengers: Doomsday‘ over the past few months, releasing access in stages rather than all at once. This gradual approach has kept fans eagerly checking booking sites, curious about when their local theaters would finally be available for ticket purchases.

The anticipation for a broader release has been particularly intense for moviegoers outside the select premium-format theaters that received early access back in July. Those initial sales, linked to premium Infinity Vision screens, provided just a glimpse of what was to come, leaving many theaters unable to participate in the booking process.

That exclusivity has now come to an end. Disney has made all ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ tickets available for every theater across the nation, significantly expanding beyond the limited premium-format screens that had access previously.

The initial ticket rollout in July was deliberately narrow, allowing fans access only to Infinity Vision, Disney’s new large-format certification, which was introduced after Warner Bros. secured IMAX theaters for ‘Dune: Part III’ for three weeks, coinciding with both films’ shared December 18 release date. This early access was limited to about 1,000 domestic theaters, a small fraction of the over 4,000 North American screens expected to show the film on opening weekend, according to Variety.

Even within that restricted pool, demand was high. First-day ticket sales for the premium-format release reportedly reached $16.5 million, doubling the opening-day figures Marvel saw with 2024’s ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ despite the latter covering all formats and screen types.

Now that ticket access has broadened to every theater screening the film, the early sale strategy has also revealed a confirmed runtime of 165 minutes, or two hours and 45 minutes. While the final cut may not be entirely set this far ahead of the release, selling tickets on a fixed schedule suggests that any further changes to the runtime are likely to be minimal.

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ brings together Earth’s Mightiest Heroes as they confront a new threat in Doctor Doom, portrayed by Robert Downey Jr. in his first significant MCU role since stepping away from Iron Man. The film features an ensemble cast including Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, and Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic, along with Anthony Mackie’s Captain America and Tom Hiddleston’s Loki.

The cast also includes Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Sebastian Stan as the Winter Soldier, Vanessa Kirby as the Invisible Woman, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, and Letitia Wright as Shuri, complemented by returning X-Men veterans Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, and Rebecca Romijn. This lineup spans various eras of Marvel’s cinematic history, reflecting the film’s theme of converging universes.

Disney has also announced the re-release of ‘Avengers: Endgame’ in theaters on September 25 under the title ‘Avengers: Endgame Encore,’ giving fans a chance to revisit the second-highest-grossing film of all time, just months before ‘Doomsday’ hits theaters. This scheduling is strategic, tapping into nostalgia for the franchise’s last major crossover right before the next one.

With tickets now available everywhere and the film’s runtime essentially confirmed, fans are left with just the anticipation. ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is set to open in theaters on December 18, and given the rapid sellout of premium seats during the film’s limited early release, the broader availability is unlikely to dampen the excitement as the holiday box office season approaches.
