Few franchises have embraced practical, grounded filmmaking as much as Matt Reeves’ vision of Gotham City, and this dedication is evident whenever production moves to a new location. Fans following ‘The Batman: Part II’ have spent the summer gathering set photos, road closure notices, and cast confirmations to uncover what Reeves is crafting next.

Glasgow has frequently stood in for Gotham, having previously represented the fictional city in both ‘The Batman’ and Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Dark Knight Rises.’ With production returning to Scotland, this connection proves invaluable for the highly anticipated sequel.

Recently released footage shows the Batmobile cruising through the streets of Glasgow, with the vehicle captured from above as it navigates the city’s cobblestone roads during this week’s shoot. The circulating clip provides fans with one of their clearest glimpses yet of the vehicle in action for the upcoming film.

Filming officially commenced in Glasgow city center this week, with a three-week shoot planned across key locations including the Broomielaw, the Glasgow Bridge, the Kingston Bridge, North Street, and the National Cycle Route 75 along the River Clyde. City officials have confirmed rolling road closures in the affected areas throughout the production period, with restrictions in some zones extending into late September.

Robert Pattinson reprises his role as Bruce Wayne and Batman for the sequel, joined once again by Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell returning as Oz Cobb, also known as The Penguin. The expanded cast also features Sebastian Stan, Scarlett Johansson, Jayme Lawson, and Charles Dance, although specific character details for the new additions remain closely guarded.

‘The Batman: Part II’ continues the story following the massive success of 2022’s ‘The Batman,’ which grossed over $772 million globally and reestablished Gotham as a grounded, noir-inflected world under Reeves’ direction. The sequel has experienced several release date changes over the years, with Warner Bros. now scheduling the film for a theatrical release on February 18, 2028.

Production has already traversed multiple UK locations this summer, including shoots near the old Birkenhead Tunnel and throughout the Liverpool City Region, along with additional filming on the Silver Jubilee Bridge in Runcorn. The Glasgow segment represents one of the larger and more visible stretches of the shoot, given the scale of road closures and the city’s prominence as a Gotham stand-in.

Fans have been closely monitoring every piece of set footage since filming began, eager for insights into how Reeves plans to expand the world introduced in the first film. Whether this new Batmobile footage suggests any modifications to the vehicle remains uncertain, though the grounded, muscle-car aesthetic from the original film seems to be intact based on what’s visible in the clip.

As filming continues across Glasgow in the coming weeks, more set photos and videos are likely to emerge as fans keep a watchful eye on Gotham’s latest transformation. For now, this fresh glimpse of the Batmobile in motion provides just enough to sustain excitement for a film that has been years in the making.
