‘Landman’ Season 3 Release Date Update: Fans May Face Longer Wait Than Anticipated
Taylor Sheridan’s Texas oil drama has emerged as one of Paramount+’s major success stories, and fans are eagerly trying to pinpoint when ‘Landman‘ will return for its next installment. Season 2 surpassed the viewership of its predecessor, prompting Paramount to quickly confirm a third season.
However, a renewal announcement does not equate to a release date, and the gap between these two milestones has fans of ‘Landman’ anxiously refreshing their search engines.
Paramount+ officially renewed ‘Landman’ for a third season on December 5, 2025, while Season 2 was still airing new episodes weekly.
This renewal followed a record-breaking premiere, with Paramount reporting over 9.2 million global streaming views for ‘Landman’ Season 2 within its first two days, marking a staggering 262 percent increase compared to the Season 1 premiere.
This impressive growth made the decision to renew the series straightforward for the streamer, especially since ‘Landman’ had already established itself as the most-watched original series in Paramount+ history after its Season 1 debut, which attracted over 35 million global viewers.
Despite the swift renewal, Paramount has yet to announce a premiere date for Season 3, nor has it revealed an episode count, a trailer, or a complete cast list. The platform’s official guide still lists the date as unannounced.
Much of the speculation regarding delays stems from the tight production schedule that Sheridan’s team has maintained in the past.
Season 1 premiered on November 17, 2024, and Season 2 followed almost exactly a year later on November 16, 2025, with the two premieres just 364 days apart, a notably consistent pattern for a modern streaming drama.
This consistency led many to anticipate that Season 3 would also debut in November. However, reports now indicate that the production schedule has shifted from a previously expected spring start to a later timeline around August, which could complicate a November release.
It’s important to note that Paramount has not officially classified this as a delay in any press statement, and the earlier spring production timeline was more of a fan and media expectation than a confirmed schedule from the studio.
Season 2 featured Billy Bob Thornton reprising his role as Tommy Norris, the M-Tex Oil fixer striving to keep his company and family intact.
Demi Moore’s character, Cami Miller, saw significant development this season as she took ownership of the company following her husband’s death in Season 1, while Jon Hamm did not return as his character Monty was written off after a fatal heart attack.

The season also introduced Sam Elliott as T.L., Tommy’s father, alongside returning cast members Ali Larter, Andy Garcia, Jacob Lofland, and Michelle Randolph, plus new series regular Stefania Spampinato.
Season 2 ran for 10 episodes on a weekly Sunday schedule from November 16 through its finale on January 18, providing fans with a full holiday season of oilfield drama, cartel tension, and family chaos.
If Sheridan’s team indeed shifted the Season 3 shoot to late August, it would leave a noticeably shorter timeline before the anticipated November 16 or 17 weekend slot that has become a tradition for ‘Landman’.
Interestingly, Season 2 was reportedly still in production through August 2025 ahead of its November premiere, suggesting that the show’s turnaround can be quicker than many other prestige dramas.
However, replicating that exact same pace two seasons in a row is a significant challenge, leading some entertainment outlets to consider a November 2026 premiere unlikely, with 2027 appearing to be a more realistic timeframe for new episodes.
For now, fans eager for more of Tommy Norris navigating the tumultuous world of West Texas oil boomtowns will need to rely on reruns of Seasons 1 and 2 while Paramount keeps the specifics of Season 3 under wraps.
Given how quickly ‘Landman’ has already transformed Paramount+’s original programming lineup, do you believe the extended wait for Season 3 will be worthwhile, or should Tommy Norris return to our screens sooner rather than later?
