Marvel Television and Animation Panel Scheduled for New York Comic Con’s Milestone Return
New York Comic Con has long been a platform for major franchise announcements, and this year’s event promises to be one of the most exciting in the convention’s history. Taking place annually at Manhattan’s Javits Center, this fall gathering attracts hundreds of thousands of fans eager for exclusive previews of their favorite film and television properties.
This year, the celebration is particularly significant as it marks a major milestone anniversary for the convention itself. Organizers have taken this opportunity to create a packed schedule that includes horror premieres, anime showcases, and studio panels from across the entertainment spectrum.
Among the confirmed programming is the much-anticipated return of Marvel Television and Marvel Animation, with their panel becoming a staple for updates on Disney+ series in recent years. Titled “Up Next From Marvel Television and Marvel Animation,” this session is set for Thursday, October 8, at 4:15 p.m. on the Empire Stage, featuring special guests who will provide an insider’s view of the studio’s upcoming projects.
While Marvel has not disclosed the specific projects that will be highlighted, ‘VisionQuest’ is expected to be a focal point as the series concludes the trilogy that began with ‘WandaVision.’ The show has already generated excitement due to previously released footage showcasing Paul Bettany’s Vision reuniting with James Spader’s Ultron, making NYCC a prime venue for further announcements.
The panel coincides with several other high-profile events. Peacock and A24 will present an exclusive first-look screening of ‘Crystal Lake,’ the long-awaited prequel to the ‘Friday the 13th’ franchise, followed by a discussion with series creator Brad Caleb Kane and stars including Linda Cardellini and William Catlett. Kane has teased that the prequel will embrace the bloodshed fans expect from the slasher legacy, making it a fitting addition to the franchise.
Horror will dominate much of the weekend’s programming beyond this screening. Friday features an AMC+ spotlight showcasing ‘Kill Jackie,’ ‘Yaga,’ Anne Rice’s ‘Mayfair Witches,’ and ‘The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon,’ promising exclusive reveals and behind-the-scenes content for each series. That evening, Blumhouse’s BlumFest returns with a panel for ‘Violent Night 2,’ featuring David Harbour reprising his role as Santa Claus in the action-comedy sequel directed by Tommy Wirkola.
‘American Horror Story’ will also take center stage with a costume-focused panel featuring stars Sarah Paulson, Billie Lourd, Gabourey Sidibe, and Leslie Grossman ahead of the show’s thirteenth season. Meanwhile, ‘Dexter: Resurrection’ will kick off the weekend with a panel celebrating the franchise’s landmark anniversary and offering a first look at its second season.
Genre programming is not limited to horror. The Star Trek universe will return to the convention with a Saturday panel dedicated to ‘Star Trek: Starfleet Academy,’ teasing its second season alongside surprise guests celebrating the franchise’s sixtieth anniversary. Anime and gaming fans can also look forward to a ‘One Piece’ English dub panel and the first-ever gathering of the English voice cast for ‘Final Fantasy VII Revelation.’
For Marvel fans, the Thursday panel represents a key opportunity to discover what the studio has planned for its Disney+ offerings. Previous editions of this panel have featured surprise guest appearances and exclusive trailers, so expectations are understandably high as attendees prepare for this year’s gathering on the Empire Stage.
The complete schedule, revealed exclusively by Entertainment Weekly, indicates that more panels will be added leading up to the event. With so much already confirmed, from prequel screenings to franchise reunions, fans attending in person or following online should brace for a busy four days.
New York Comic Con runs from October 8 through 11 at the Javits Center, with the Main Stage and Empire Stage hosting the majority of the weekend’s biggest reveals. With Marvel’s Disney+ ambitions and a horror lineup featuring ‘Crystal Lake,’ ‘Yaga,’ and ‘Mayfair Witches,’ this year’s convention is set to be a significant event.
