Hollywood is filled with actors who pursue adrenaline for thrilling stories, but few have made a name for themselves through real-life stunts like Tom Cruise. His dedication to performing his own death-defying sequences has become a hallmark of his career, inspiring many others to follow suit.

Now, it seems Sydney Sweeney is eager to join the ranks of these daredevils. The ‘Euphoria’ star has spent her summer showcasing her adventurous spirit, engaging in activities like bungee jumping and helicopter rides during a trip to Australia and New Zealand with boyfriend Scooter Braun. However, her latest stunt elevates her thrill-seeking to new heights.

On August 24, Sweeney posted a video of herself strapped to the top of a biplane mid-flight, executing a full wing-walking routine as the aircraft performed rolls and loops in the sky. Clad in a red safety vest and protective goggles, she stood atop the wing while the plane executed dramatic maneuvers, including a moment where she was completely upside down. In her caption, she playfully warned Tom Cruise to watch out, a clear nod to the actor’s own history with such stunts.

The comparison is fitting. Cruise famously performed a wing-walking sequence in 2025’s ‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning,’ where he clung to a vintage Stearman biplane as it soared at speeds of around 140 miles per hour at approximately 8,000 feet. That scene became one of the film’s most talked-about moments, solidifying wing-walking as one of Cruise’s most extreme stunts.

Sweeney executed the stunt with The Wing Walk Company, a flight school located in Ashford, England. The video was set to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs track “Spitting Off the Edge of the World.” The Wing Walk Company also joined in on the fun, praising Sweeney’s performance in the comments and expressing how much they enjoyed having her.

The ‘Top Gun’ team took notice of Sweeney’s stunt as well. The franchise’s official Instagram account commented on her post, playfully referencing the “need for speed,” a nod to Cruise’s own high-flying legacy. This lighthearted crossover moment highlights how synonymous Cruise has become with aerial daredevilry.

Sweeney also shared a shorter clip on her Instagram Story, mentioning that she decided to strap herself to a plane and go upside down. Friends chimed in with their reactions, including photographer Eddy Chen, who humorously expressed relief that he hadn’t joined her for the ride.

Cruise’s own experiences with wing-walking have been well documented, including his insights about the physical toll such stunts take during filming. He has discussed the extensive training required for these sequences and has been candid about the harsh conditions he endures, particularly the intense wind and cold at high altitudes.

For Sweeney, this stunt aligns with her ongoing trend of thrill-seeking throughout the year, whether it’s speedboats, bungee jumps, or now wing-walking over the picturesque English countryside. This moment also creates a fun connection between one of Hollywood’s legendary action stars and a rising talent in a lighthearted manner.

It remains to be seen whether Cruise will respond to Sweeney’s playful challenge, but the internet has already taken note of her latest daring adventure.
