Bratz Honors Tim Curry with Tribute Doll Inspired by Dr. Frank-N-Furter
In recent days, tributes have flooded in from across Hollywood, celebrating the life and legacy of Tim Curry, a beloved character actor known for his theatrical flair. Few have made as significant an impact on pop culture as Curry, whose vibrant performances have turned him into a cult icon over decades in film and theater.
Curry passed away on August 25 at the age of 80, following a long battle with health issues after suffering a stroke in 2012. His death has sparked heartfelt remembrances from friends and fans alike, including notable figures like Carol Burnett and Susan Sarandon, who fondly recall his unique presence both on and off the screen.
The tributes have now reached beyond Hollywood, with the official Bratz Instagram account sharing a tribute to Curry. They unveiled a custom doll inspired by his iconic role as Dr. Frank-N-Furter from ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show,’ featuring the character’s signature curls, pearl necklace, fishnet gloves, and green surgical smock.
“Tim was never afraid to be exactly who he was, showing us that the most iconic thing you can do is be yourself,” Bratz wrote alongside the tribute image, tagging Curry’s official account. “King of camp and fashion icon, your passion for individuality will inspire us forever!”
The tribute resonated with fans, quickly garnering tens of thousands of likes and numerous comments from those eager to see the concept turned into a retail product. One user, dolls2remember, commented, “We need rocky horror bratz,” while another, skyhopewolf, humorously urged, “Please please please actually make this omg. Easiest money y’all will ever make off me.”
This enthusiastic response highlights the lasting impact of Curry’s portrayal of Frank-N-Furter since the film’s original release in 1975. The character continues to influence pop culture, most recently seen in this year’s Broadway revival of ‘The Rocky Horror Show,’ where actor Luke Evans received a Tony nomination for his performance in the iconic role.
Evans also paid tribute to Curry following his passing, sharing that he had written a heartfelt letter to the actor just three weeks before his death. “Being compared to you has been one of the greatest compliments I’ve ever received, even though it’s a comparison no one could ever hope to live up to,” Evans expressed in his Instagram tribute. “There is, and always will be, only one Tim Curry.”
Beyond his role as Frank-N-Furter, Curry had a prolific career portraying memorable villains and quirky characters, from Pennywise in the original 1990 ‘It’ miniseries to Wadsworth the butler in ‘Clue’ and Rooster in ‘Annie.’ His versatility across horror, comedy, and musical theater solidified his status as one of the most talented character actors of his generation.
While it remains uncertain if Bratz will officially produce the Frank-N-Furter tribute doll, the overwhelming fan enthusiasm suggests a strong demand for such a product.
