Wrestlers transitioning to Hollywood is a familiar trend, but few WWE Superstars have generated as much buzz as Cody Rhodes lately. With an upcoming video game adaptation and a growing filmography, the American Nightmare has been quietly crafting a resume that captures the attention of fans.

Last week, Rhodes heightened the excitement when he shared a photo from inside Marvel Studios’ offices in Burbank, California, on his Instagram Story. He provided no context for the visit, and it remains uncertain when the photo was taken, yet this did not stop speculation from quickly spreading through wrestling and superhero fan circles.

Rhodes has now added more fuel to the fire. In a recent Instagram Story, he featured the ‘X-Men ’97’ theme song, a detail that comes just days after his reported visit to Marvel’s headquarters, leading fans to believe something might be brewing behind the scenes.

To clarify, there is no confirmation of an actual role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe at this time. It’s entirely possible that the studio visit and the music choice are mere coincidences, but the timing has certainly ignited fan casting discussions online.

The X-Men connection is not without basis. During an appearance on Logan Paul’s Impaulsive podcast, Rhodes was asked which mutant he would like to portray, and he expressed enthusiasm when the character Cable was suggested, reflecting his long-standing admiration for the X-Men animated series.

This podcast moment has fueled much of the current speculation, with fans focusing on Cable due to Rhodes’ blonde hair and strong physique, which closely resemble the time-traveling character. Others have proposed names like Bastion, William Stryker, and Havok, while some fans have even suggested Venom as a possibility.

Rhodes’ interest in comic book roles is not new. He previously appeared in seven episodes of The CW’s ‘Arrow’ as Derek Sampson and has openly discussed pursuing the role of Black Bolt for Marvel’s ‘Inhumans’ series back in 2016, long before his current Hollywood ventures began.

He has also mentioned Omega Red and Cyclops as some of his favorite Marvel characters, providing fans with even more material to speculate about a potential casting announcement. However, whether any of this leads to an actual role remains purely speculative at this point.

In the near future, Rhodes is set to portray Guile in the upcoming ‘Street Fighter’ adaptation this October, sharing the screen with Roman Reigns, who plays the villain Akuma. He also recently starred in the comedy ‘The Naked Gun’ and is attached to the TV series ‘The Rest of Us.’

As for timing, any potential Marvel role would likely take some time to materialize. ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is scheduled for release this December, followed by ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ roughly a year later, and the next ‘X-Men’ film isn’t slated until 2028, meaning fans may have to wait a while to see if any of this speculation comes to fruition.
