Forbes Claims Adria Arjona as DCU’s Wonder Woman in ‘Man of Tomorrow’ Is Hollywood’s Worst-Kept Secret
James Gunn’s revamped DC Universe has become a masterclass in keeping its biggest surprises under wraps, with the studio adeptly maintaining secrecy around key castings until they are ready for an official announcement. This strategy proved effective with ‘Superman’ last year, and it seems to be unfolding again with the upcoming sequel.
That sequel is ‘Man of Tomorrow,’ and much of the speculation regarding its cast has focused on one actress in particular: Adria Arjona. Initial reports linked her to Maxima, a lesser-known alien queen from Superman’s rogues’ gallery, but ongoing theories suggest she may be poised for a much larger role.
This theory has gained traction thanks to Forbes contributor Paul Tassi, who argues that Arjona playing Wonder Woman has become what he describes as the worst-kept secret in Hollywood. It’s important to note that this is Tassi’s analysis and speculation rather than an official confirmation from DC Studios, Arjona, or Gunn, all of whom have yet to address the casting directly.
Tassi’s argument relies heavily on circumstantial evidence rather than any formal announcement. He highlights Arjona’s close friendship with Gunn, her connections with fellow DCU star Jason Momoa, and her increasingly visible workout routine, all of which he believes indicate a role that demands more physicality than a supporting villain would typically require.
Arjona herself has continued to stoke the speculation without confirming any specifics. While promoting her new action film ‘Onslaught,’ she has elaborated on her rigorous training regimen, mentioning that being part of “the DC family” inspires her to persevere, according to Forbes.
Tassi also draws parallels to how Sadie Sink’s mysterious role in ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ was widely speculated to be Jean Grey long before any official casting was confirmed, suggesting a similar pattern is emerging here. His reasoning posits that it would be illogical for Marvel or DC to conceal a minor character’s casting so aggressively, as past supporting roles in these franchises have typically been announced with minimal fanfare.
Adding weight to the theory, Tassi mentions that ‘Supergirl’ writer Ana Nogueira has reportedly been tasked with developing a Wonder Woman project, which he interprets as a sign that the character has become a higher priority within the DCU than previously understood. Based on this timeline, he speculates that Arjona could be officially revealed as Wonder Woman shortly after ‘Onslaught’ completes its theatrical run, rather than facing a lengthy wait for confirmation.
It’s important to note that this theory has evolved significantly over the past several months. Earlier reports had linked Arjona to Maxima through various casting lists that also included actresses like Eva De Dominici, Sydney Chandler, and Grace Van Patten, with Gunn publicly disputing at least one of those reports as inaccurate without directly addressing the Wonder Woman speculation.
This inconsistency has left ample room for theories to shift, and Tassi’s latest piece represents just the newest iteration of a rumor that has bounced between different characters for months without any official resolution. Whether Arjona ultimately plays Maxima, Wonder Woman, or something entirely different remains unconfirmed at this time.
‘Man of Tomorrow’ is set to feature David Corenswet as Superman and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, with Lars Eidinger confirmed as the film’s main antagonist, Brainiac. The film is currently slated for release in 2027, giving Gunn and DC Studios plenty of time to either confirm or continue evading questions about Arjona’s role before then.
For now, fans will have to keep analyzing workout videos and casual comments for hints, much like they did with Sink’s Marvel Comics debut.
