‘The Inbetweeners 3’ Is Officially in Production with Original Cast Returning
British comedy has given us numerous cult classics, but few have maintained their cultural relevance like ‘The Inbetweeners.’ This beloved sitcom aired on E4 from 2008 to 2010, chronicling the awkward misadventures of four suburban teens as they navigated the trials of adolescence at the fictional Rudge Park Comprehensive.
The show’s legacy continued through two feature films, with the latest, ‘The Inbetweeners 2,’ released in 2014. Since then, fans have kept the spirit alive with viral clips and endless rewatching, despite ongoing speculation about a third film.
Those speculations have now turned into reality. Netflix has confirmed that ‘The Inbetweeners 3’ is officially in production in the UK, reuniting the original core cast for what the streaming service describes as a continuation of the hugely popular sitcom and its two record-breaking films.
Simon Bird, James Buckley, Blake Harrison, and Joe Thomas are all set to reprise their roles as Will McKenzie, Jay Cartwright, Neil Sutherland, and Simon Cooper. This reunion of the original cast is a rare achievement for a legacy sequel, especially after such a long hiatus.
The creative team behind the scenes is also intact. Series creators Damon Beesley and Iain Morris are returning to write and direct the new film, having previously collaborated on ‘The Inbetweeners 2’ back in 2014.
Beesley and Morris expressed their excitement about reuniting with the cast, stating that it has been a joy to work with their friends again. They assured fans that they are committed to making the new film enjoyable, according to Netflix’s official announcement. This lighthearted sentiment aligns perfectly with the franchise’s comedic style.
Claire Jones is producing the film alongside Banijay’s Patrick Holland and Fudge Park Production’s Mark Lesbirel. A robust group of executive producers includes Caroline Levy, Caroline Leddy, Phil Gilbert, Suzanne Knight, Tom Jordan, and Farhana Bhula, along with Morris and Beesley themselves.
Discussions about a potential third film have circulated for years, gaining traction last year when rights holder Banijay UK reached an agreement with Beesley and Morris through their production company, Fudge Park Productions. This deal set the stage for what is now an officially confirmed Netflix production.

To celebrate the announcement, Netflix released a teaser video featuring the original cast fitting back into Simon’s iconic battered yellow Fiat Cinquecento, a nostalgic moment that resonated with longtime fans. While no plot details or release date have been revealed, the production timeline suggests that fans may have to wait until 2027 to see the finished film.
With the same four actors and the original creative team returning nearly two decades after the show’s debut, ‘The Inbetweeners 3’ sets a high standard for authenticity in franchise revivals. Regardless of the story’s direction, this reunion is a significant milestone for one of British television’s most cherished comedy exports.
