Secret superhero castings have turned into a game of intrigue in modern blockbuster promotions, with studios encouraging actors to dodge questions for months. James Gunn’s DC Universe has embraced this tradition, and few have played along as playfully as Adria Arjona during her press tour.

Having completed filming for Gunn’s ‘Man of Tomorrow,’ the eagerly awaited ‘Superman’ sequel, the exact character Arjona portrays remains unconfirmed by DC Studios. Speculation suggests she could be playing either the villainous Maxima or, more intriguingly, Wonder Woman herself, and Arjona has artfully avoided confirming either role.

This teasing reached new heights during her recent appearance on Josh Horowitz’s “Happy Sad Confused” podcast, where Horowitz took a unique approach by proposing a wager. He bet $500 that she’s portraying Wonder Woman.

Instead of dismissing the wager, Arjona countered by asking what would happen if she were to play Maxima, insisting that Horowitz should match his offer for that possibility as well. They ultimately agreed on a $500 charity bet, with Horowitz responsible for the donation if his Wonder Woman theory is correct, and Arjona if she’s confirmed as Maxima.

This moment echoes a previous instance on Horowitz’s podcast when Jason Momoa flatly denied being cast as Aquaman, even jokingly suggesting Horowitz could punch him if he was lying. Rather than pushing Arjona toward a blunt denial, Horowitz’s monetary wager allowed her to engage without technically confirming anything.

Arjona has been open about the challenges of keeping her role a secret, admitting she hates having to hold back information. She has confirmed that she knew exactly which character she was auditioning for, contrasting with how some actors have described their experiences in similarly secretive franchise roles.

The actress has also sparked speculation with her rigorous training regimen, as seen in a recent Women’s Health video, where she detailed a demanding routine of 45 minutes of cardio, two hours of weightlifting, and six rounds of boxing. This level of preparation has intensified fan theories about her stepping into a significant action-heavy superhero role.

Fan reactions on social media heavily favor the Wonder Woman theory, with viewers citing her training footage and public appearances as evidence. Arjona has skillfully navigated press events, even humorously dodging a direct Wonder Woman question at a screening by claiming she needed to leave the room.

‘Man of Tomorrow’ features a star-studded ensemble cast, including David Corenswet as Superman, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, and Lars Eidinger as Brainiac, along with Rachel Brosnahan, Milly Alcock, Aaron Pierre, and Nathan Fillion. The film is set to premiere on July 9, 2027, giving fans ample time to speculate before any official announcements are made.

With Arjona now literally putting her money where her mouth is regarding the Wonder Woman rumors, even if only for charity, the speculation surrounding her role shows no signs of slowing down. Whether she embodies Diana Prince or brings Maxima to life, DC fans will be analyzing every interview leading up to the film’s release for more clues.
