‘Dexter: Resurrection’ Season 2 Premiere Date and Teaser Revealed
Two decades after his chilling debut, Dexter Morgan is showing no signs of retiring his infamous kill kit. The franchise that revitalized itself with ‘Dexter: New Blood‘ and the prequel series ‘Dexter: Original Sin’ continues to find innovative ways to bring America’s favorite serial killer back into the limelight. This latest chapter arrives at a particularly significant time in the show’s legacy.
‘Dexter: Resurrection’ is set to return for a second season just as the franchise marks its 20th anniversary, with the original ‘Dexter’ series having premiered in October 2006. Paramount+ has confirmed that the new season will debut on October 30, just in time for Halloween, providing fans with a suitably eerie return for television’s most meticulous killer.
Michael C. Hall reprises his iconic role as Dexter Morgan, who now faces a threat unlike any he has encountered before. According to the official season description, Dexter finds himself ensnared between two deadly adversaries: one a notorious figure with a history of murders, and the other a younger, unpredictable presence wreaking havoc in New York in unexpected ways. Amidst this chaos, Dexter also grapples with a surprisingly relatable issue: a midlife crisis.
The two new killers have been identified as Brian Cox’s Don Framt, known as the New York Ripper, and Dan Stevens’ Owen Stark, who is referred to as the Five Borough Killer. Cox’s character was hinted at the end of Season 1 as a retired murderer whose psychological grip on past survivors remains strong, while Stevens’ character taunts law enforcement with threatening calls before acting on his threats.
In addition to these new series regulars, the season will feature Bokeem Woodbine as Captain Mixon and Nona Parker Johnson as Fiona Mixon, who is described as a homicide unit training officer and becomes a love interest for Dexter’s son, Harrison. Gabriel Luna also joins the cast as a guest star playing Ray Ballard, another serial killer known as the Sleepy-Eyed Stranger, while Krysten Ritter returns in her Season 1 guest role as Mia LaPierre, also known as Lady Vengeance.
Returning series regulars include Uma Thurman as Charley Brown, Jack Alcott as Harrison Morgan, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine as Blessing Kamara, Kadia Saraf as Claudette Wallace, Dominic Fumusa as Melvin Oliva, and James Remar reprising his role as Dexter’s late father, Harry. Desmond Harrington, who had a brief appearance in Season 1 as Lieutenant Joey Quinn, has been promoted to series regular for the new season, meaning fans can expect a significantly larger role for him moving forward.

Paramount+ has also unveiled the season’s first teaser alongside the premiere date announcement. The 40-second clip features Dexter getting fitted for a new pair of glasses, blending an eye exam with the sharpening of his tools. The teaser humorously promises that Dexter is back and “sharper than ever.”
Clyde Phillips returns as showrunner and executive producer, continuing his role as the creative force behind the original series and its subsequent revivals. He is joined by a robust team of executive producers, including Hall himself, Scott Reynolds, Marcos Siega, Tony Hernandez, and Lilly Burns, among others.
With a compelling new cast of killers, a returning ensemble of familiar faces, and a premiere date perfectly aligned with the franchise’s milestone anniversary, ‘Dexter: Resurrection’ Season 2 is poised to be one of the most ambitious chapters in the character’s long, blood-soaked saga. All episodes will be available exclusively through Paramount+’s Premium Plan starting October 30.
