‘Marvel Rivals’ has been consistently delivering new cosmetics since the launch of Season 10 earlier this month, and now the God of Thunder is set for a significant upgrade. This season has focused on Gorr the God Butcher, who has joined the game as a new melee-centric Duelist. The introduction of the new God Quarry map and a Loki-themed event called The Tetrameron has kept the Asgardian vibe alive throughout the update.

In this context, Thor receiving a new costume inspired by his comic book history aligns perfectly with the season’s direction. The developers have been rolling out a variety of cosmetics during Season 10, including Pajama Party skins for characters such as Jubilee, Magneto, Mantis, and Daredevil, along with Moon Knight’s Eternity Knight look.

Now it’s Thor’s turn to shine with something far more formidable than pajamas. ‘Marvel Rivals’ confirmed via its official X account that a new King Thor costume is on its way, showcasing a heavily armored, battle-worn version of the character wielding an axe-like hammer and wearing the iconic horned helmet associated with his older, more seasoned comic persona.

The skin is set to launch on Thursday, September 25 at 10:00 PM EDT, coinciding with several other Season 10 releases, including Mantis’s and Daredevil’s Pajama Party costumes. It is currently categorized as Epic rarity, which places it just below the game’s top-tier cosmetic options but still within the range that players often prioritize.

The King Thor design draws inspiration from Thor’s earlier, ruler-of-Asgard era in the comics, portraying him as a grizzled, one-eyed warrior king who has traded his classic look for full battle armor after years of conflict. This aesthetic is a stark contrast to the character’s usual appearance in ‘Rivals’, providing Thor players with a heavier, more grounded skin option to unlock.

Season 10 shows no signs of slowing down after this release. Luna Snow and Phoenix are both set to receive Celestial Messenger skins the following week on October 2, the same day the King Thor costume was initially expected before its release was moved up. The season is scheduled to continue through October 9, when a mid-season update, Season 10.5, will take over the content cycle.

With a season that heavily emphasizes Asgardian and mythological themes through Gorr’s introduction and the Loki-centric Tetrameron event, Thor’s comic-accurate king transformation feels like a fitting highlight rather than just another cosmetic addition. Whether this skin becomes one of the season’s most sought-after will likely depend on how the final in-game appearance measures up against the promotional artwork once it officially launches.
