The London segment of the press tour took her to the Curzon Mayfair for the film’s UK Gala Screening, where she once again demonstrated her flair for making a statement.

For the occasion, Johnson donned a cream lace maxi dress designed by Colleen Allen, featuring sheer floral fabric that elegantly revealed the black Fleur du Mal lingerie beneath. The plunging scoop neckline, adorned with delicate ruffled detailing and fitted short sleeves, lent the floor-length gown a romantic, vintage lingerie vibe that contrasted beautifully with the dark undergarments.

In September 2025 alone, she sported a black lace dress with floral embroidery and exposed matching underwear at the Kering Foundation’s Caring for Women Dinner, followed by a vibrant purple sheer lace Gucci dress at the Zurich Film Festival.

What set this appearance apart was the tonal shift, moving away from the dramatic black-on-black ensembles of previous events to a softer cream-and-black palette that felt more romantic than provocative. Johnson completed her look with her signature straight hairstyle, a black manicure, and understated jewelry, including a gold necklace, bracelet, and several rings.

‘Verity’ follows Lowen Ashleigh, portrayed by Johnson, a struggling writer tasked with ghostwriting the remaining books in a series by acclaimed author Verity Crawford, played by Anne Hathaway. Directed by Michael Showalter, the film also stars Josh Hartnett as Verity’s husband Jeremy, and it is set to hit theaters on October 2.

Hathaway was notably absent from the London screening, reportedly due to being in the final stages of pregnancy, leaving UK press duties to Johnson and Hartnett. This placed the spotlight on Johnson’s outfit choice, which successfully dominated the conversation surrounding the premiere.

Johnson has previously shared her thoughts on bold fashion choices, expressing to Vogue Germany that wearing beautiful dresses makes her feel beautiful, which is why she continues to embrace them. This mindset has clearly influenced her red carpet strategy over recent seasons, with sheer lace becoming a signature aspect of her style.
