Florence Pugh Shines at ‘East of Eden’ After-Party in Chic Black Top and Pleated Skirt
Netflix’s ‘East of Eden’ has finally premiered, with all 7 episodes of the limited series available since October 1. Zoe Kazan’s adaptation of John Steinbeck’s 1952 novel has had a long journey to the screen, and its lead actress has been ensuring it remains in the spotlight.
Florence Pugh, who plays Cathy Ames and serves as an executive producer, has transformed the promotional tour into a stunning fashion showcase. She began on September 17 at a West Hollywood screening, donning an embroidered yellow tulle Rodarte ensemble paired with Bvlgari jewelry. Just ten days later, she made an appearance at the Paley Center for Media in New York, wearing a dazzling white gown adorned with silver rhinestones.

Her latest look may be the most understated yet. At the Vanity Fair after-party for ‘East of Eden’, Pugh sported a black top and a gray pleated skirt, with sequins accentuating her waist and a stylish black bow on the side of the skirt, as seen in photos. This ensemble presents a polished, slightly moody vibe, a departure from the fairy-tale gowns she wore earlier in the tour.

The outfit appears to be from Erdem, a London-based label, which aligns with Pugh’s British roots. It also seems to complement a look W Magazine noted at an ‘East of Eden’ event at San Vicente in the West Village on September 29. Fans on social media were quick to praise the black-and-gray combination, with one user calling it a fashion masterpiece.
Erdem has been a recurring theme throughout the week. At the ‘East of Eden’ Netflix event in New York, Pugh wore a striking white Erdem Resort 2027 dress with an exaggerated silhouette, complemented by silver Aquazzura sandals and Bvlgari jewels. For the London premiere, she opted for a dramatic black taffeta Rodarte ballgown adorned with a Bvlgari necklace featuring around 60 carats of diamonds and rubellite.
The contrast in her outfits has become part of the narrative. The black gown embraced the gothic themes of the series, while the white dress in New York felt airy and almost bridal. The after-party outfit strikes a balance, combining sharp tailoring with a hint of sparkle at the waist.

These fashion moments coincide with the show’s release. Pugh leads a talented cast that includes Christopher Abbott as Adam Trask, Mike Faist as Charles Trask, Hoon Lee as Lee, and Ciarán Hinds as Samuel Hamilton. The narrative revolves around Cathy’s arrival into the Trask family and the ensuing conflict between the two brothers.
It has been a busy period for the actress. Pugh also features in a new Vanity Fair shoot and is set to reprise her role as Yelena in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ on December 18. With the Netflix premiere now live, the press tour wardrobe may be winding down, but this look hints that Pugh is saving a few surprises for the finale.
