Hollywood comebacks often feature red carpets, trailer drops, or magazine covers, but Amber Heard’s latest achievement came with a race bib and a finisher’s medal.

The ‘Aquaman’ actress has spent the last few years away from the limelight, opting for a quieter life in Spain. She shares occasional glimpses on Instagram, making each post a moment of interest for her followers.

On Monday, October 5, Heard announced that she had completed her first half marathon in Donostia-San Sebastián, Spain, finishing the 21.1-kilometer race in an impressive 1 hour and 39 minutes.

Heard shared three photos from the event. One captures her in full stride, another shows her walking near the finish line, and the most striking image features her with her arms raised, laughing joyfully with her eyes closed.

Dressed in a lilac sports bra and matching bike shorts, Heard sported a lilac running belt, pale pink socks, and running shoes, with her blonde hair tied up and a red patterned scarf tucked at her side. In another photo, she proudly displayed her medal while standing on the wet road in front of a finish-line banner.

In her caption, she expressed gratitude to the host city in Basque, using the phrase eskerrik asko, meaning thank you very much. She also noted her distance and finishing time, and for a relatively new runner, completing the race in under 1 hour and 40 minutes is quite an achievement.

This half marathon significantly surpasses the distance of her first race. In June, Heard participated in Madrid’s KLM Norte Sur 10K, which she celebrated on Instagram with a photo cradling her 5-year-old daughter, Oonagh, post-race.

Heard has mentioned that running is her preferred method of stress relief, and she has frequently been spotted jogging around Madrid. Fans have observed that the sport has become a larger part of her life since moving.

After relocating to Spain in 2022, Heard initially settled in Majorca before moving to Madrid with her family. Reports suggest she left California seeking more privacy following the intense media scrutiny from her high-profile defamation trial with ex-husband Johnny Depp.

She is a mother of three, having welcomed Oonagh in 2021 and announcing the arrival of twins, daughter Agnes and son Ocean, on Mother’s Day in 2025.

Heard’s most recent acting credits date back to 2023, including a brief role in ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ and the thriller ‘In the Fire,’ which premiered at the Taormina Film Festival in Italy. Since then, she has shared only sporadic glimpses into her life, from dining at a three-Michelin-star restaurant to enjoying park days with her children.

Many fans and media outlets have noted how different this update is compared to the images that dominated her coverage in recent years. Instead of a courtroom or a premiere, the setting was a finish line in a Spanish city, where Heard celebrated a personal achievement.

This milestone also highlights how far she has come with her new hobby. With a 10K and now a half marathon completed, speculation is rife about what distance she might tackle next.
