The tradition of evolving Superman sequels continues with ‘Man of Tomorrow’, as James Gunn returns to write and direct this highly anticipated film. David Corenswet, who portrays the iconic Man of Steel, has recently shared intriguing insights about what fans can expect from the sequel.

While production was underway, Corenswet remained relatively quiet, but with filming wrapping up on August 26, he has begun to discuss his experiences. Fans are eager for details regarding the new Superman suit and the storyline that accompanies it.

During a screening in New York on October 5, Corenswet told People that the suit features some changes this time around, and the film delves deeper into Superman’s dynamic with Lex Luthor, played by Nicholas Hoult. This event took place at the Whitby Hotel, where Corenswet was also promoting his role in an upcoming biopic.

The hints about the costume align with what fans have observed from set photos. Initial images suggested the new suit closely resembles the one from 2025, but closer inspections revealed a tighter fit, a larger chest emblem, and a modified collar that reveals more of the throat.

This is significant since Corenswet previously mentioned that the original suit was quite constricting. Any modifications that enhance comfort would be appreciated, even if they are minor. Gunn has indicated that the design aims to make Superman appear more approachable rather than intimidating.

The narrative promises to place Superman and Lex Luthor in a unique situation. In ‘Man of Tomorrow’, they must reluctantly join forces to combat Brainiac, a superintelligent alien android portrayed by Lars Eidinger. Gunn has noted that the film is as much about Lex as it is about Superman, emphasizing their need to collaborate against a formidable adversary.

Corenswet echoed this sentiment in a previous interview with Entertainment Tonight, describing the characters as more mature and hinting at some exciting developments, including Hoult in Lex’s war suit. He humorously remarked that fighting Hoult in the armor would be quite a challenge.

Gunn has already shared a first-look image of Hoult in the green-and-purple suit, which he captioned as a fit check from the set. Additionally, set photos have revealed that the production is utilizing a substantial practical version of the armor, enhancing the physicality of the fight scenes.

Corenswet also mentioned to People that the filming experience felt like summer camp, expressing joy in returning for a second film. He highlighted the fun of reuniting with cast members, including Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Hoult, which could enhance the emotional depth that Gunn aims to achieve.

The cast is expanding as well, with Skyler Gisondo, Nathan Fillion, Edi Gathegi, Isabela Merced, and Sara Sampaio returning, alongside new additions like Adria Arjona as Maxima, Aaron Pierre as Jon Stewart, and Milly Alcock as Supergirl. This diverse array of heroes and villains presents an exciting challenge.

While some fans are uncertain about what a more mature Superman entails, many hope the sequel retains the hopefulness and sincerity that made Corenswet’s portrayal memorable. His recent comments suggest a focus on growth rather than a complete overhaul.

‘Man of Tomorrow’ is set to hit theaters on July 9, 2027, providing ample time for more set photos, trailers, and teasers before the film’s release. For now, the promise of a new suit and a deeper rivalry is enough to keep fans intrigued.
