‘Anna Pigeon’ Season 2 Is Officially Renewed at USA Network Ahead of Season 1 Finale
Cable networks have faced challenges in recent years, with scripted originals that once defined channels like USA Network becoming increasingly rare. Every new drama now carries the burden of demonstrating that traditional storytelling can still thrive outside of streaming platforms.
This makes the success of a new series particularly significant. When a debut show captures an audience, it can indicate that a network’s revival strategy is effective. Few shows this year have tested this theory as clearly as the park-ranger mystery based on bestselling novels.
Now, ‘Anna Pigeon‘ has officially been renewed for Season 2 at USA Network. This announcement came on October 7, just two days before the Season 1 finale airs on Friday, October 9 at 10/9c. Fans had been anxiously awaiting news about the show’s future, as the network had not confirmed either a renewal or cancellation as of October 2.
The ratings reveal the network’s confidence. The premiere attracted an average of 2.35 million total viewers within the first week, marking it as the highest-rated original scripted series premiere for the network in nearly eight years and the best scripted debut since 2018. Throughout its first season, the show has garnered a total of 18 million viewers, according to the network.
USA Network also claims it as the top new scripted drama on ad-supported cable in 2026. The series, which debuted on August 7, consists of 10 episodes. Its strong performance aligns with the network’s gradual rebuilding of its scripted lineup, which also features the John Grisham legal drama ‘The Rainmaker.’
The series follows Anna Pigeon, portrayed by Tracy Spiridakos, a former city dweller who became a park ranger after a life-altering loss. As she confronts her past, she focuses on solving crimes that occur within national parks, regardless of the obstacles she faces. The show is based on the New York Times best-selling novels by Nevada Barr.
Spiridakos leads a talented cast that includes Paulina Alexis, Ronnie Rowe, Tricia Helfer, Kim Coates, Crystle Lightning, Cooper Levy, Manuel Rodriguez-Saenz, Ryan Northcott, Nikki Rae Hallow, Jordan Sledz, and Melanie Scrofano. Coates plays Jeremiah Paulson, and the finale is anticipated to culminate in a long-awaited confrontation with him.

The network promises that the new season will continue to deliver mystery and adventure as Anna’s journey unfolds. Michael Sluchan, Versant’s senior vice president of scripted content, noted that the show resonated with audiences and introduced a compelling new heroine and perspective to the network. Showrunner Morwyn Brebner expressed eagerness to return to the outdoors for more storytelling.
However, many details remain unconfirmed. USA Network has yet to announce a premiere date, episode count, or specific storylines, and it is unclear whether the second season will adapt ‘A Superior Death,’ the second novel in Barr’s Anna Pigeon series.

Brebner created the series and serves as showrunner, while Lea Thompson directs and executive produces. The show is produced by Cineflix and SEVEN24 Films for USA Network in association with Bell Media, marking Bell Media’s first co-commission with Versant’s USA Network. Brebner, known for her work on ‘Rookie Blue,’ executive produces alongside a team that includes Thompson and Brett Burlock.
The collaboration behind the scenes appears to be yielding positive results, providing the network with a hit and giving the partner a successful first collaboration. It also gives viewers a reason to anticipate more from a series that has captivated audiences week after week.
Before Season 2 can commence, Anna must first navigate the finale. The series has been building towards a significant confrontation, and the renewal alleviates some pressure by ensuring the story will continue. Nevertheless, fans will be closely watching to see how the ending sets the stage for the next chapter.
For now, this renewal serves as a reassuring endorsement of a show that has quietly emerged as the network’s biggest scripted success in years. If the first season is any indication, viewers are eager to return to the wilderness with Anna.
