Jessica Biel’s current press tour for her new action comedy has been nothing short of a fashion spectacle. Over the past couple of weeks, she has dazzled fans with a variety of outfits during photocalls, premieres, and screenings across three cities, showcasing her unique style without repeating a single look. Recently, a new set of images offers a more intimate glimpse into her preparations before the cameras start clicking.

Biel has predominantly embraced a black wardrobe, yet she continues to find innovative ways to express her style. From sleek leather to sheer layers and structured tailoring, each outfit conveys a distinct mood. This campaign has sparked curiosity about her behind-the-scenes moments.

This week, fans got a sneak peek into that curiosity with a pair of black-and-white portraits shared on X by Cinethology, capturing the actress in a relaxed moment that seems to precede a red carpet event. While the post does not specify which premiere the photos are linked to, they present a stark contrast to her polished red carpet appearances.

In the first portrait, Biel is seen in profile, glancing over her shoulder. A white robe drapes down her arms, illuminated by soft window light that enhances the monochrome aesthetic. Her hair is styled in a long, high ponytail, complemented by a dramatic drop earring featuring chain-like details.

The second image captures a more playful side of Biel. Leaning against a dark wood-paneled wall, she smiles back at the camera, her robe slipping off her shoulders. A ring adorns her hand, while a handbag and a small bottle rest on a table behind her.

Together, these portraits provide a glimpse into the getting-ready process rather than a formal photoshoot. The black-and-white treatment lends a classic, almost old-Hollywood vibe, highlighting the earring and her long ponytail as key features. After a series of bold fashion choices, this simplicity offers a refreshing change.

These images come amid a diverse array of looks from Biel. At the Mexico City photocall on September 30, she donned an all-black ensemble featuring a sculpted high-neck halter, a leather midi skirt, and pointed Le Silla pumps. The next day, at the premiere, she switched to an Adam Lippes sheer sequined cape over a black bandeau paired with a white midi skirt.

In New York on October 5, Biel wore a Dolce & Gabbana blazer open over her bare torso, accompanied by a sheer floor-length skirt. Her stylists, Mariel Haenn and Rob Zangardi, adorned her with Cartier diamond drop earrings valued at approximately $135,000, while hairstylist Adir Abergel styled her hair into a waist-length mane. Two days later in London, she appeared in a black Nensi Dojaka cut-out strapless gown, accessorized with oversized gold Schiaparelli earrings and a high ponytail.

Biel’s styling has traversed monochrome, sheer layering, tailoring, and cut-outs in just over a week. The black-and-white portraits seamlessly fit into this narrative, echoing the color palette while stripping away the glamour, suggesting a thoughtful visual story from her team.

All this attention is building up to the film’s release. ‘Matchbox: The Movie’ is set to premiere on Apple TV on October 9, directed by Sam Hargrave, known for ‘Extraction’, and based on a script by David Coggeshall. The film follows a group of childhood friends whose lives are disrupted by the return of their long-absent former leader, undercover CIA agent Sean, portrayed by John Cena.

The film features an ensemble cast including Sam Richardson, Arturo Castro, Teyonah Parris, Corey Stoll, Bill Camp, Danai Gurira, and Golshifteh Farahani. It is an Apple Original Film produced by Skydance Media and Mattel Films, marking the next release from Mattel following ‘Barbie’ in 2023. For Biel, this also marks her first film in nine years.

She has been promoting the project for several months. At Apple TV’s press day in February, she wore a dark-chocolate organza top layered over a matching camisole with tailored leather trousers. She also made an appearance at San Diego Comic-Con, where the film’s trailer was unveiled. Reflecting on the tour, it has been consistently polished and stylish.

With the film set to stream just a day after these portraits were shared, the promotional campaign is entering its final phase. After numerous bold red carpet moments, it’s fitting that one of the concluding images feels so personal, showcasing Biel relaxed, smiling, and ready for the evening ahead.

The real test now lies in how audiences will receive the movie. If the response mirrors the excitement generated during the press tour, Biel’s return to film could be a remarkable one.
