Some of the best horror hits are those that build gradually, spreading through word of mouth until the audience grows large enough to demand more. ‘FROM’, the MGM+ sci-fi horror series about a nightmarish town that traps everyone who enters, has achieved just that. Now, it is set to reach its largest potential audience yet.

According to What’s on Netflix, ‘FROM’ will start streaming on Netflix in the United States on Monday, October 19, as part of a limited-time licensing agreement. The first four seasons are expected to be available that day, allowing new viewers to catch up before the final chapter. This marks the first time the show has been accessible on the streaming platform in the US.

The timing is deliberate. Releasing a back catalog on a major platform a few months before the conclusion of the story is a well-established strategy to expand an audience, and Amazon MGM Studios has previously sent other titles to Netflix. For a series that thrives on fan theories and discussions, a new wave of viewers could amplify the excitement for the final season.

The premise is simple yet chilling. A town in middle America ensnares everyone who enters, and its unwilling residents strive to maintain a sense of normalcy while searching for an escape. As night falls, terrifying creatures emerge from the surrounding forest, turning every evening into a battle for survival.

Harold Perrineau stars as Boyd Stevens, the de facto sheriff who keeps the community together. Catalina Sandino Moreno plays Tabitha, with a cast that includes Eion Bailey, David Alpay, Elizabeth Saunders, Hannah Cheramy, Ricky He, and Chloe Van Landschoot, among others. Doug E. Hughes portrays the enigmatic Man in Yellow, one of the show’s most unsettling characters.

‘FROM’ was created by John Griffin and is executive produced by Griffin alongside showrunner Jeff Pinkner, known for ‘Lost’, ‘Alias’, and ‘Fringe’, as well as director Jack Bender of ‘Lost’ and ‘Game of Thrones’. The series premiered on Epix in February 2022 before transitioning to MGM+, where the second season debuted in April 2023 and the third in September 2024. The fourth season aired from April 19 to June 28, 2026.

Each season consists of 10 episodes, and the show has become the most-watched series in MGM+ history. This milestone was recognized when the network renewed it on April 15 for a fifth and final season. Fans, who refer to themselves as the FROMily, have followed every twist for years.

The fourth season finale, titled ‘If a Tree Falls in the Forest…’, set the stage for the conclusion. Tabitha and Jade crawl beneath the town to retrieve the children’s bones they believe are keeping everyone trapped, while the community gathers above ground around the bottle tree. An eclipse plunges the town into darkness, the creatures attack, and a sabotaged ladder leaves the two stranded in a collapsing chamber.

Boyd then leads a rescue mission with Fatima and Ellis, even as the creatures close in. Reviewers noted that it felt less like an ending and more like a setup for the final season, with the town left more vulnerable and several beloved characters lost. Anyone wishing to watch the finale on Netflix will need to get through the earlier seasons first, which is likely the intention.

Season 5 began production on July 6 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and is expected to wrap in late November. MGM+ has confirmed it will premiere in 2027, although no exact date has been provided. The creators expressed their excitement about starting work on it and promised that the story will reach its intended conclusion.

Since the finale picks up right after the cliffhanger, the Netflix window offers a convenient entry point. New viewers can binge four seasons filled with dread, mystery, and heartbreak, then join the fandom just as answers begin to unfold.

This move also reflects how the industry operates today. Premium cable and streaming brands are increasingly licensing older seasons to competitors, not to abandon a show but to broaden its audience. If this strategy succeeds for ‘FROM’, we can expect more final-season campaigns to begin on other platforms.

For horror enthusiasts, the timing is nearly perfect. A week before Halloween, a binge-worthy series that blends supernatural terror with human drama will attract plenty of viewers, and Netflix’s vast audience has the potential to elevate a cult favorite into mainstream conversation.
