‘Yellowjackets’ Final Season Trailer Reveals Release Date and Haunting Journey Home
Few shows have transformed survival horror into must-watch television quite like ‘Yellowjackets’. Since its debut, fans have dedicated years to unraveling the mystery surrounding a high school girls’ soccer team stranded in the wilderness, and the countdown to the answers is finally underway.
The series has consistently navigated two timelines: one that follows the teenage survivors in the wild and another that tracks the adults they eventually become. The third season revisited the pilot’s notorious cold open, confirming that Mari is the Pit Girl. It concluded with Natalie reaching out to the outside world via a sat phone, signaling that rescue was on the horizon.
Now, the first trailer for the fourth and final season has dropped, focusing on the aftermath of their rescue. The footage begins with a camcorder-style frame dated January 3, 1996, showcasing the survivors recounting their harrowing experiences on camera, their expressions vacant. Their parents attribute this behavior to the shock of being found, but the trailer hints that the trauma they endured to survive continues to haunt them.

The trailer quickly escalates, featuring gunfire, explosions, and screams, promising a final reckoning for the characters. The official description teases that the survivors are racing to bury their sins before rescue arrives, while an old flame returns with her own agenda. In the present, two of the Yellowjackets are reportedly preparing to kill one of their own.
An earlier announcement cleverly embraced the 1990s theme with a faux ‘MTV News’ report stating that the Wiskayok High Yellowjackets had been rescued after 19 months, even including a playful shout-out from Alanis Morissette during ‘MTV Unplugged’, a nod to the series’ fondness for the decade.
The returning cast features Melanie Lynskey, Christina Ricci, Tawny Cypress, Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Samantha Hanratty, Courtney Eaton, and Liv Hewson. Warren Kole, Kevin Alves, Sarah Desjardins, Nia Sondaya, Jenna Burgess, and two-time Oscar winner Hilary Swank are also back, with Nia Sondaya and Jenna Burgess promoted to series regulars for the final season.
The guest list is equally impressive, with Molly Ringwald and June Squibb joining the cast, alongside Elijah Wood, Devon Sawa, Dulé Hill, and Sam Braun among the guest stars. Creators Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson continue as showrunners.
The decision to conclude the show with the fourth season was confirmed last October. Originally, the creators had envisioned a five-season arc, so the final chapter arrives one season earlier than many fans anticipated. However, the cliffhanger from the third season made it evident that the narrative was approaching its conclusion.

The show has also achieved significant ratings success. Paramount reports that the third season was the most-watched in the series’ history, with its finale attracting over 3 million global viewers in its first week. This momentum ensures that the final season will garner plenty of attention as it seeks to resolve its remaining mysteries.
New episodes will premiere on Friday, November 20, on Paramount+ with the Premium plan, and all previous seasons are currently available for streaming. With rescue finally imminent, the focus shifts from whether the survivors will escape to what they will have to confront when they do.
