Joe Locke’s Billy Maximoff Returns in ‘VisionQuest’ as Ruaridh Mollica Confirms Reunion
The fate of the Maximoff twins has kept Marvel fans on the edge of their seats for quite some time. Following the introduction of the twins in ‘WandaVision’ and their partial reunion in ‘Agatha All Along,’ viewers have been eagerly anticipating when the brothers would finally share the screen together. With ‘VisionQuest’ now available for streaming, that question has been answered in a thrilling way.
The series debuted on Disney+ on October 14, featuring its first two episodes. It completes the trilogy that began with ‘WandaVision’ in 2021 and continued with ‘Agatha All Along’ in 2024. Showrunner Terry Matalas brings back Paul Bettany as Vision, alongside James Spader as Ultron, T’Nia Miller as Jocasta, and Todd Stashwick as the mercenary Paladin. This eight-episode series has sparked intense speculation with each new installment.
Recently, Ruaridh Mollica, who portrays an older Tommy Maximoff, confirmed in an interview with Entertainment Tonight that Joe Locke will reprise his role as Billy Maximoff in ‘VisionQuest.’ Locke’s appearance in later episodes promises to be an exciting development, and Mollica shared that filming together was an incredible experience.

The twins were initially introduced in ‘WandaVision’ when Wanda created her family within the Hex in Westview. Following the collapse of the Hex, Billy’s essence transferred into the body of William Kaplan, a teenager who tragically died in a car accident. In ‘Agatha All Along,’ Billy sought to build a coven and embarked on a quest to find his lost brother.
By the conclusion of that series, Billy managed to place Tommy’s soul into the body of Thomas Shepherd, a teenager who had drowned. At the start of ‘VisionQuest,’ Tommy is now an 18-year-old orphan living in London, recently out of the foster care system. He survives through pickpocketing and eventually encounters White Vision, who is grappling with his identity.
Speculation surrounding Locke’s return had been building, especially after he made a surprise appearance at the UK premiere of ‘VisionQuest’ at the BFI London Film Festival on October 12. This event had fans buzzing about the possibility of Billy’s return, and a recent Marvel trailer seemed to confirm their suspicions.
Locke and Mollica share a fun history, having co-starred as a couple in the West End play ‘Clarkston.’ Mollica mentioned that they filmed their Marvel scenes before performing together on stage, and Locke humorously noted on TikTok that he discovered the man he kisses at work is actually his twin brother.
Interestingly, Mollica revealed that he had previously auditioned for an MCU role without knowing which character it was, only to realize later that it was for Billy, the role that Locke ultimately took on in ‘Agatha All Along.’
Mollica also described Bettany as a mentor throughout the project. This relationship is pivotal to the show, which heavily emphasizes the father-son dynamic between Vision and Tommy. The return of Billy adds another layer to this emotional storyline.
With ‘VisionQuest,’ Locke joins the ranks of a select few actors who have appeared in two live-action MCU shows on Disney+, alongside Bettany. Billy’s return also opens the door for the Young Avengers, as both twins are significant figures in that team. Reintroducing them in their teenage forms sets the stage for potential future collaborations.
