Amanda Seyfried has had an enviable year, earning two Golden Globe nominations for ‘The Testament of Ann Lee’ and ‘Long Bright River.’ As a familiar face on the 2026 red carpet circuit, it was no surprise that her look at the Academy Museum Gala generated significant buzz.

The sixth annual gala took place on October 17 in Los Angeles, honoring Charlize Theron, Colman Domingo, and John Carpenter. Taylor Swift was set to perform, and the evening was presented by Rolex. Often referred to as the “Met Gala of the West,” this event offers a first glimpse of awards-season fashion.

Seyfried arrived in a stunning Prada gown, featuring a strapless design in a deep midnight-navy hue, complemented by Tiffany & Co. jewelry. The gown’s sleek, structured bodice transitions into a full skirt adorned with layered, pleated side panels that flare out at the hips.

In a clip from the carpet, Seyfried gracefully holds the sides of her skirt, allowing the pleated layers to fan out around her. The gown’s fitted center contrasts beautifully with the sheer, tiered panels, creating a dynamic silhouette that moves like a hidden cape.

She kept her overall look understated, with her long blond hair cascading past her shoulders. A sparkling necklace provided the only shine against the dark fabric, allowing the gown’s draping to take center stage.

This isn’t Seyfried’s first time pairing Prada with the gala; last year, she wore a Prada gown with Tiffany & Co. jewelry, indicating her ongoing relationship with the brand. At the 2026 Met Gala in May, she donned a custom alabaster-pink silk faille Prada ballgown featuring hidden pockets, a drop waist, symmetrical bows, and a ruffled train.

Compared to that pink confection, her gala dress is quieter and more graphic, trading princess vibes for a darker, architectural mood.

Her fashion choices have paralleled her work; at the 2026 Golden Globes, she wore a custom Versace strapless ivory gown that reportedly took 400 hours to create. She was nominated for Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy for ‘The Testament of Ann Lee’ and for Best Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series for ‘Long Bright River.’

Previously, she won a Golden Globe for ‘The Dropout.’ In ‘The Testament of Ann Lee,’ she portrays Ann Lee, the founder of the Shaker movement, in a film from the creators of ‘The Brutalist,’ having trained extensively for the choreography.

At the gala, Seyfried hinted at exciting developments in her career, mentioning to The Hollywood Reporter that her life is currently busy with a new project she can’t discuss just yet.

This air of mystery adds to the intrigue surrounding her appearances, leaving fans curious about her upcoming work while she continues to captivate with her fashion choices.

Seyfried has attended the Met Gala multiple times, showcasing a wide range of styles. At the 2023 Met Gala, she wore a sheer nude minidress by Oscar de la Renta, featuring cascading golden strands and a corset bodice, a flapper-inspired look that contrasts sharply with this year’s moody navy ensemble.

Her versatility is a key reason her red carpet appearances continue to attract attention. Whether playful, romantic, or dramatic, she fully commits to the mood she chooses.

The guest list was star-studded, with Taylor Swift, Kate Hudson, Jamie Lee Curtis, Kerry Washington, Hunter Schafer, Adria Arjona, and Chase Infiniti also walking the carpet alongside Jodie Turner-Smith and Maya Hawke.

Amidst the statement gowns, Seyfried’s midnight-navy dress stood out for its softness. The design photographs beautifully in motion, perfectly complementing the gala’s draped-curtain backdrop.

The gown’s strength lies in its contrast; the clean, strict bodice pairs with an airy, layered skirt, and the dark color maintains an elegant feel. It strikes a balance between formal and relaxed.

On a night where many guests opted for classic black and textured styles, Seyfried’s piece introduced a touch of drama through its draping alone, making it a quiet showstopper.
