Few horror films have made as significant an impact as ‘Obsession’. Directed by Curry Barker, the film, which had a modest budget of $750,000, grossed over $500 million globally. Focus Features acquired it after its Midnight Madness screening at the Toronto International Film Festival, reportedly for around $14 million.

The plot centers on Bear (Michael Johnston), a music shop employee who uses a peculiar item called the One Wish Willow to wish for the affection of his longtime crush, Nikki (Inde Navarrette). This leads to a dark twist on the classic cautionary tale of wishing, with Nikki, dubbed ‘Freaky Nikki’, emerging as the film’s standout character. Many critics have even hailed her as a potential modern horror icon.

Now, Nikki is set to invade a different arena. An exclusive first look at her ‘Fortnite’ skin has been revealed, showcasing two shadowy images of her in moody lighting, perfectly timed for Fortnitemares 2026.

This reveal follows a series of hints. Update v42.40, released on October 15, introduced an ‘Obsession’-themed Sprite called One Wish Willow, along with encrypted files for Nikki. According to leakers, the complete bundle will feature the outfit, a back bling, a pickaxe, and an emote.

Reports suggest that the emote will utilize a prop and have a unique version when paired with the Nikki skin. Additionally, Nikki will have her own lobby idle animation, and the back bling is said to emit a sound upon eliminations. A second style is anticipated, featuring a bloodier variant that alters her face while maintaining her red-and-black outfit.

This bloody detail aligns with a recent update to the game’s ESRB rating, which now includes an Animated Blood content descriptor. Although prices are yet to be confirmed, the outfit is expected to retail for 1,500 V-Bucks, and like other recent live-action collaboration skins, it may be obtainable through a Fortnite Cup.

The ‘Obsession’ collaboration is set to launch on October 21 during Fortnitemares 2026, allowing players to acquire the Freaky Nikki skin along with other cosmetics. Epic Games has officially confirmed the collaboration with a new teaser, ending months of speculation.

As of now, only Nikki has been discovered in the files. There has been no leak regarding a Bear outfit, and Epic has not hinted at a second skin.

This crossover has been in the works since the summer. In July, Epic released a 58-second trailer titled ‘The Obsession is Real’, created in collaboration with Focus Features and Blumhouse, which recut scenes from the film and replaced Nikki with a Zero Point Sprite. The clip did not tease any skins at the time, leaving fans in suspense.

Fans had been eagerly requesting the skin. A fan-made concept of Nikki, complete with a custom pickaxe and back bling, went viral months prior, with players clamoring for the character to be included in Fortnitemares. Additionally, it’s worth noting that Navarrette is an avid gamer who previously streamed ‘Call of Duty’ on Twitch.

Horror collaborations have become a staple for ‘Fortnite’ during Halloween. Last year’s lineup featured several horror films, including ‘The Black Phone’, ‘Scream’, and ‘Terrifier’, making Nikki’s outfit a fitting addition to this tradition.

The timing is also advantageous for the film. ‘Obsession’ has been a box office sensation, experiencing a remarkable second-weekend surge of nearly 40 percent, which analysts have described as virtually unprecedented. Focus has even promoted merchandise, including replicas of the One Wish Willow, which sold out in less than 24 hours.

Barker shows no signs of slowing down. His next project, ‘Anything but Ghosts’, is scheduled for release on May 7, 2027, with Focus Features. For now, all eyes are on Nikki and whether she will be as popular in the Battle Royale as she was in theaters.
