Trailer and Release Date for ‘The Hunting Wives’ Season 2 Revealed
When ‘The Hunting Wives’ debuted on Netflix in July 2025, it quickly became one of the summer’s most popular guilty pleasures. Set in Texas, this soap opera was initially developed as a drama for Starz before Netflix acquired the US streaming rights, leading it to become the most-streamed series in the country for a week. It even received a Saturday Night Live parody featuring Aubrey Plaza and Amy Poehler, solidifying its place in pop culture.
The viewership numbers confirmed the show’s success. It garnered 5.2 million views in its premiere week, spent five weeks on Netflix’s Global Top 10 English-language TV list, and peaked at No. 2 globally in its second week. Based on May Cobb’s 2021 novel, the series follows Sophie (Brittany Snow), an East Coast transplant who becomes involved with Margo (Malin Åkerman), the leader of an elite group of Texas socialites.
Now, fans can rejoice as the wait is almost over. Netflix has unveiled the first full trailer for the show’s second season, with all eight episodes set to drop on November 26, Thanksgiving Day.

The nearly two-minute trailer amplifies everything that made the first season a hit. According to The Hollywood Reporter, it promises more sex, bloodshed, and secrets ready to surface. It also hints at a fiery reconciliation between Sophie and Margo, alongside the introduction of a reality show reminiscent of ‘The Real Housewives’ for this conservative group of East Texas women.
One line from the trailer features a character expressing a desire for her husband Graham to know she can change, juxtaposed with images of discarded clothes on a wooden floor, signaling that the residents of Maple Brook are not inclined to behave themselves.
The first season concluded with a shocking cliffhanger, revealing that Margo murdered Abby to conceal her affair with Abby’s boyfriend, Brad. Sophie, realizing she had been deceived and nearly framed, reacted with anger, leaving the women in a bloody and unresolved situation.
The official logline for the upcoming season indicates that Sophie and Margo start off at odds. However, old secrets and new adversaries soon force them back together, raising the question of whether they are the hunters or the hunted.

Snow and Åkerman reprise their roles, joined by Dermot Mulroney, Jaime Ray Newman, Evan Jonigkeit, and George Ferrier. Karen Rodriguez and Hunter Emery return as series regulars, portraying Deputy Salazar and Deputy Flynn.
The cast also welcomes several notable names. John Stamos plays Chase Brylan, Dale Dickey takes on the role of Zelda Moffitt, and Cam Gigandet portrays Gentle John Moffitt, with Kim Matula and Alex FitzAlan also joining the ensemble. Production commenced in Charlotte, North Carolina, on November 17, 2025.

The show’s journey has been remarkable, especially considering it was nearly a different network’s property. Netflix renewed it for a second season in September 2025, with Snow and Åkerman announcing the news in a playful video. Earlier this month, Netflix also confirmed a third season, even before the new episodes premiere.
Behind the scenes, Rebecca Cutter created the series and serves as showrunner, writer, and executive producer. Erwin Stoff of 3 Arts Entertainment executive produces alongside Cobb, with Lionsgate Television as the studio.
With the premiere scheduled for Thanksgiving Day, Netflix is clearly banking on audiences wanting some scandalous entertainment between turkey and leftovers. Following a first season filled with shocking twists, expectations are high for another round of Southern-fried secrets.
