‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Team-Ups Revealed in Marvel Snap with Gambit and Shang-Chi
The team-ups in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ have emerged as one of the most exciting aspects of Marvel’s upcoming crossover. Early on, the studio set the stage with a five-hour livestream announcing the start of production and unveiling the initial cast members. By the end of the event, a massive 27-person ensemble was confirmed.
This ensemble brings together some of Marvel’s most iconic characters. Scheduled for release in theaters on December 18, 2026, the film features Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, with the Russo brothers at the helm. The cast will unite the X-Men and the Avengers, raising questions about which heroes will share the screen together.
Recently, a video game may have provided some early insights. A datamine of unreleased files from ‘Marvel Snap’ revealed a complete ‘Doomsday’ card set, as tracked by SnapComplete and shared across Reddit’s Marvel spoiler board.

The cards that stand out feature intriguing duos. Gambit is paired with Shang-Chi, Sue Storm with Namor, and Reed Richards with Beast. Upcoming listings also include a card for Sam Wilson and Nightcrawler, while M’Baku is paired with The Thing, completing five notable pairings.
Many of these pairings align with the confirmed cast. Winston Duke portrays M’Baku, Channing Tatum plays Gambit, Vanessa Kirby is Sue Storm, Ebon Moss-Bachrach takes on The Thing, Simu Liu is Shang-Chi, and Tenoch Huerta Mejía plays Namor. Additionally, Kelsey Grammer returns as Beast, and Alan Cumming reprises his role as Nightcrawler.
It’s important to note that this information is not an official plot summary. These are datamined card names from a mobile game, and there has been no confirmation that these pairings will appear in the film.
Some of these combinations have already generated buzz. Kelsey Grammer mentioned that Reed Richards will interact with Beast in the film, and he will also share scenes with Downey’s Doctor Doom. The pairing of Mister Fantastic with Beast on a ‘Marvel Snap’ card aligns with this narrative.
Nightcrawler’s inclusion is equally fascinating. In a BuzzFeed UK interview, Alan Cumming humorously mentioned preparing for stunts and hinted at a fight scene involving Pedro Pascal. While he may have been joking, if true, it could suggest a clash between the Avengers and the X-Men before they confront the main antagonist.
Sam Wilson’s storyline also makes sense. The post-credits scene in ‘Thunderbolts’ confirmed his role in assembling a new Avengers team. A card pairing him with a mutant teleporter hints that his lineup may include unexpected characters.

The card set isn’t the only merchandise-related clue circulating. A reported LEGO leak describes a Sentinel Robot battle set featuring Thor, Magneto, Mister Fantastic, Mystique, Nightcrawler, and another Doctor Doom minifigure, suggesting Doom’s alignment with the Sentinels. However, the actual plot details remain unverified.
Together, these card pairings and toy leaks create an intriguing picture of a film that mixes its heroes in unexpected ways. Whether these combinations will survive the final cut remains to be seen.
If the schedule remains intact, fans won’t have to wait long for the gaming aspect. The ‘Marvel Snap’ December season, titled ‘Doomsday: Unleashed’, runs from December 1 to January 4, featuring Doctor Doom as the Season Pass card and Gambit & Shang-Chi as the Super Premium card. This timing closely aligns with the film’s theatrical release.
For now, these duos should be viewed as intriguing hints rather than definitive facts. Marvel has kept its plot tightly under wraps, and the true revelations will come when the film hits theaters.
