After two seasons filled with tension, ‘Nobody Wants This’ Season 3 is set to premiere on Netflix on October 22, featuring its central couple finally living under the same roof. Erin Foster’s series, which debuted in September 2024, has already garnered three Emmy nominations for its first season. This time, the focus shifts from whether Joanne, portrayed by Kristen Bell, and Noah, played by Adam Brody, are meant to be together to whether they can handle sharing a bathroom.

The comedic heart of this season stems from their new living arrangement. The initial episodes are brimming with relatable domestic squabbles, from morning routines to territorial disputes over household space. The writers skillfully extract humor from the everyday challenges that arise in a loving relationship. Bell and Brody have long since established their chemistry, and they navigate this new intimacy with a natural ease that makes even minor disagreements feel authentic.

What stands out this season is the show’s newfound confidence in its supporting characters. Sasha and Esther’s separation pushes both into uncharted territory, allowing Jackie Tohn’s Esther to develop into a fully realized character with her own desires. Justine Lupe’s Morgan takes a more prominent role in the podcast, and her dynamic with Timothy Simons provides some of the season’s sharpest moments.

The writing appears more willing to advance the central romance rather than rehash the same conflicts. While Season 2 was filled with familiar obstacles, this season explores the next steps in their relationship, including significant commitments and the complexities of merging two distinct families. A few unexpected guest appearances add excitement without overshadowing the main characters.

However, the season isn’t without its flaws. Some pivotal moments occur so quickly that they leave little room for reflection, and occasionally, conflicts seem artificially created to maintain momentum. The tendency to escalate minor misunderstandings into major crises still surfaces, detracting from the warmth that the show typically excels at conveying.

Still, the most memorable scenes are those that showcase the show’s strength: characters who misspeak and must navigate the consequences. No one is perfect, and the series allows for apologies and second chances. This generosity prevents the humor from veering into harshness.

Overall, I found this season to be a warm, humorous, and surprisingly self-assured return that offers its leads fresh material and allows the supporting cast to shine. A bit more patience in pacing could have enhanced the experience, but I found myself smiling throughout most of the episodes. I rate ‘Nobody Wants This’ Season 3 8 out of 10.
