‘Nobody Wants This’ Season 3 Ending Explained: Are Joanne and Noah Married?
After two seasons filled with uncertainty, Netflix’s ‘Nobody Wants This’ has finally allowed its central couple to embrace a life together. Created by Erin Foster, this romantic comedy stars Joanne, portrayed by Kristen Bell, and Noah, played by Adam Brody. The third season begins with the couple moving in together as Joanne continues her journey toward converting to Judaism.
The previous seasons concluded on similar notes, with the couple on the verge of breaking up only to share a kiss. The new episodes aimed to break this cycle, with the show’s co-showrunners expressing their desire to let the couple enjoy their relationship after the tumultuous events of the past year. This sets the stage for a significant finale centered around family, faith, and a few well-kept secrets.
So, how does the season conclude? The finale, set at a Malibu beach estate during Joanne’s mikvah ceremony, culminates in Joanne and Noah getting married. The co-showrunners have confirmed that the couple ends the season as husband and wife, despite the wedding being an impromptu decision.
The episode opens at the Malibu estate, where Joanne is preparing for the traditional ceremony marking her conversion. Both families are present, and the day quickly descends into chaos, featuring a yelling match, spilled secrets, and a few sprained ankles along the way.
Amidst the chaos, romance blossoms. Joanne and Noah decide to transform the conversion celebration into a beach wedding, with Rabbi Eden, played by Sarah Silverman, agreeing to officiate. Conveniently, she has a ketubah, the Jewish wedding contract, in her car trunk. This messy yet joyful solution perfectly aligns with the show’s tone.

The wedding follows a highlight from earlier in the season, where Noah orchestrated an elaborate proposal at a Napa vineyard, inspired in part by Foster’s own love story. After much hesitation in the past, the couple transitions from engagement to marriage within a single season, which some viewers may find to be a rapid pace.
Nonetheless, this aligns with the season’s theme. Rather than questioning whether Joanne and Noah belong together, the finale shifts focus to what they will build together next. Joanne’s completion of her conversion alongside the wedding allows her to close a long-running narrative thread on her own terms.

The siblings’ storylines are equally complex. Sasha and Morgan slept together during a trip to New York in Episode 7, after which Morgan left, leaving Sasha feeling abandoned. In the finale, Esther discovers the hookup, while Morgan learns that Sasha had also been with Esther the day before.
Esther, who expressed a desire for personal growth at the end of the second season, spends this season exploring life independently before her feelings for Sasha resurface. By the end, Sasha decides to give his marriage with Esther another chance, realizing that the woman he loves is the one he truly wants to be with. Meanwhile, Morgan is last seen icing her ankle on the deck, observing Sasha and Esther’s heated discussion, understandably unhappy. The season also hints that she may actually have feelings for him.
Netflix has yet to announce a renewal for another season, leaving the future uncertain. The finale concludes with numerous loose ends, including the fallout from the family argument at the Malibu house, the newlywed status of the leads, and the unresolved love triangle involving Sasha, Morgan, and Esther.
At the same time, the ending could serve as a satisfying conclusion, as the central couple has finally achieved the milestone the show has been building toward. Regardless, the finale leaves viewers with a more uplifting note than either of the previous seasons.
