The campaign missions in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 are highly engaging, and if you miss watching your favorite Task Force 141 operators trying to bust the cartel and nab a terrorist, then you can relive these moments through Hollywood action and war movies. Plenty of movies follow a similar plot, so you won’t be short of choice. Let’s take a rundown of all the best movies to watch if you enjoyed playing the campaign missions in Modern Warfare 2.

Movies Similar to CoD Modern Warfare 2’s Campaign

Most of the plot for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2’s campaign missions take inspiration from real life and on-screen events. You would find some striking resemblance in the game from the following movies.

Sicario and Sicario 2

These movies seem to lay the foundation for the missions Borderline and Recon by Fire, and the game also seems to pay homage to the famous border shootout. This is a great pick if you enjoy movies revolving around the cartel.

12 Strong

12 Strong has a strong cast and fantastic acting and is a must-watch for its action sequences. This movie deals with the terrorist attack on 9/11, and the plight of the soldiers deployed in Afghanistan shortly after. Also, the OST of the movie is composed by Lorne Balfe, which will take you back to 2009 Modern Warfare 2.

Zero Dark Thirty

If you enjoyed the hunt for terrorist Hassan Zyani during the campaign mission Kill or Capture, then you will find the similarities in Zero Dark Thirty quite intriguing. This should be your go-to movie if you enjoy the adrenaline-pumping action of capturing a Terrorist.

The Rock (Movie)

The Rock features a team of SEALs, an FBI chemist, and also a former SAS captain who break into Alcatraz and try to stop a group of rogue Marines led by a rogue General. If you are familiar with hostage situations in Call of Duty, especially the Gulag missions in the past game, then you would reminisce about it while watching The Rock.

Lone Survivor

This movie looks like it was made specifically for the Cartel Protection mission in MW2. Lone Survivor follows the plight of United States Navy SEALs and their unsuccessful mission to track down the Taliban leader. The entire movie setting takes place in the mountains, similar to the downhill battle in Cartel Protection. The campaign mission draws various similarities from the movie.
