A New ‘Punisher’ Project Is Reportedly in Early Development at Marvel
A new Punisher project is reportedly in early development, according to industry insider Daniel Richtman. This news follows the recent release of the character’s latest special, The Punisher: One Last Kill, which debuted on Disney+ as part of the MCU.
The rumor indicates that Marvel Studios may not be finished with Frank Castle, even after the standalone special that continues his narrative. While no official details have been confirmed, fans are buzzing about the potential directions the character could explore next.
The Punisher: One Last Kill is a Marvel Studios Special Presentation directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green, co-written by Green and Jon Bernthal. This project continues Frank Castle’s story, also known as the Punisher, and fits within the broader MCU timeline under Marvel Television.

Jon Bernthal reprises his role as Frank Castle, returning from earlier Marvel projects, including his Netflix series The Punisher and the Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again. The special also sees the return of cast members like Deborah Ann Woll and Jason R. Moore, with Judith Light joining as crime boss Ma Gnucci.
The narrative follows Frank Castle as he grapples with the consequences of his violent past while trying to move on from his life as a vigilante. However, new threats arise, drawing him back into conflict and forcing him to confront unresolved issues.
The concept for the special reportedly emerged during the production of Daredevil: Born Again, with Bernthal and Green collaborating closely with Marvel Studios to develop the project. Filming took place in New York City, and the special was released on May 12, as part of Phase Six of the MCU.
Currently, Marvel has not officially confirmed the rumored new Punisher project, and details regarding its format or storyline remain undisclosed.
