In recent years, secret superhero castings have become a form of promotional theater, with studios encouraging actors to dodge questions while fans eagerly analyze every hint. James Gunn’s DC Universe has embraced this trend, and Adria Arjona has emerged as one of the most entertaining participants in this game.

Having completed filming for Gunn’s ‘Man of Tomorrow,’ the eagerly awaited ‘Superman’ sequel, DC Studios has yet to reveal her character. Speculation has centered on two possibilities: the villainous Maxima or, more intriguingly, Wonder Woman herself. Arjona has skillfully navigated this ambiguity without confirming either role.

During her latest promotional appearance for the A24 thriller ‘Onslaught,’ Arjona spoke with Josh Horowitz on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast. This time, the host took a different approach, directly asking her about her costume instead of her character.

Arjona provided a tantalizing hint, expressing her love for the costume and noting that both potential characters boast impressive outfits for comic fans. She humorously remarked that Peter Safran and James Gunn were putting her in a tough spot.

Her response was both revealing and noncommittal, showcasing her adeptness at handling the press. She did share an intriguing detail, confirming that she knew which character she was auditioning for from the start, a clarity not always present in secretive superhero projects.

The interview also featured a memorable moment when Horowitz proposed a financial wager, betting $500 that she was playing Wonder Woman. Arjona cleverly countered, asking what would happen if she turned out to be Maxima, insisting he match the bet for that possibility as well.

They eventually agreed on a charity wager, deciding that whoever guessed incorrectly would donate $500 to a charity of the other’s choice. This playful exchange reflects Arjona’s engaging approach to the ongoing speculation, allowing her to interact with the mystery without revealing too much.

Arjona was cast in an undisclosed role for ‘Man of Tomorrow’ back in April 2026, and the speculation has only intensified, further fueled by her intense training regimen, which she has publicly documented. Fans interpret her hours of cardio, weightlifting, and boxing as preparation for a physically demanding superhero role.

‘Man of Tomorrow’ continues the narrative that Gunn initiated with 2025’s ‘Superman,’ bringing back David Corenswet as Clark Kent, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. The film is scheduled for release on July 9, 2027, giving fans ample time to analyze every interview Arjona gives until then.

With DC Studios keeping her character’s identity under wraps as tightly as Marvel did with Jean Grey’s reveal in ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day,’ Arjona’s comments about her costume have only added fuel to a debate that shows no signs of cooling. Whatever she’s wearing under that mystery suit, it’s clear she’s genuinely excited to reveal it to fans when the time comes.
