Work is actively progressing on Season 2 of ‘Ahsoka’, and according to Dave Filoni, the new episodes are currently deep into post-production. Fans have been eagerly awaiting a significant update since the first season concluded in 2023. While Filoni hasn’t disclosed an exact release date yet, he recently provided new insights during an interview with ScreenRant.

Filoni mentioned that the team is focused on editing and visual effects as they continue their work behind the scenes. “Working on it! It’s coming. It’s come a long way. Obviously, I’m editing all the episodes at once right now and just deep in visual effects with the team. But I’m really proud of everyone and the work they put in. Lots of things to resolve and figure out, but that’s normal.”

He also expressed that the cast and crew are thrilled to finally participate in a larger fan celebration this time around. “I’m excited for people to see it. We didn’t really get to go out and premiere, in a way, last time. I think that the team’s really excited to be out with the fans with this one and see how it goes.”

Although fans are keen to learn when the new season will debut, Filoni remained tight-lipped about the specific release plans. When directly asked about a premiere window, he responded with a hint of mystery. “I’m not saying, but I might know. Everything needs its moment. Right now, this is Maul’s moment.”

That comment aligns with Lucasfilm’s current focus on other upcoming projects, including ‘The Mandalorian’ and ‘Grogu and Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord’. Nevertheless, Disney+ has already included ‘Ahsoka’ Season 2 in its 2026 lineup, suggesting a summer or fall release is likely. Production reportedly commenced in the United Kingdom back in April 2025.

Season 1 followed Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren after the fall of the Empire, while also bringing Grand Admiral Thrawn fully into live-action. The series heavily connected to ‘Star Wars Rebels’ and expanded several storylines fans had longed to see continue.

The second season is anticipated to push those narratives even further. Hayden Christensen is confirmed to reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker, along with other familiar faces from Season 1, including characters portrayed by Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Eman Esfandi, and Ivanna Sakhno. Reports also indicate that Admiral Ackbar will make an appearance in the new season.

One of the most pressing questions is whether Season 2 will mark the final chapter for Ahsoka’s journey. Filoni did not provide a definitive answer but hinted that he already knows the direction of the story. “You never know. Everything works as planned, and I know where the story goes and where it should tie up. And so, I’m not really worried about that.”

He also noted that fan theories continue to amuse him as development progresses. “Fan speculation is always fun. It’s always fun to hear what people think. But we got a lot going on right now in the present. Like a Jedi, you must keep your mind in the here and now.”

For now, fans will need to wait a bit longer before Lucasfilm officially unveils more footage or a release date. However, based on Filoni’s recent remarks, Season 2 of ‘Ahsoka’ is making steady progress and is set to play a significant role in the future of ‘Star Wars’ on Disney+.
