AI Actor Tilly Norwood to Star in First Feature Film Misaligned
Tilly Norwood, the AI “actor” who generated significant controversy in Hollywood in late 2025, is now poised to star in her debut feature film. The project, titled Misaligned, was announced by Particle 6, the studio focused on AI innovations behind her creation.
According to the studio, the film is being described as a comedy-drama that revolves around a “coming-of-age story infused with existential AI chaos.”
Set within a digital realm known as the “Tillyverse,” the narrative unfolds in a surreal environment suspended in the Cloud. Tilly is depicted as an AI entity without a physical form, childhood, or real-life experiences. Instead, she learns by absorbing and processing the experiences of others. The storyline reportedly takes a turn when a rogue AI from the dark web encourages her to break free from her inherent limitations, leading her to develop desires, ambitions, and emotional responses, pushing her closer to human-like behavior.
This film marks Particle 6’s inaugural full-length AI-led feature project. The studio states that Misaligned will be produced as a hybrid project, merging traditional filmmaking with AI systems. This includes collaboration among directors, writers, and editors alongside AI specialists throughout the development process. The company also emphasizes that training and mentorship in AI tools will be integral to the production, blending human expertise with machine-generated content.
Eline van der Velden, CEO and founder of Particle 6, elaborated on the studio’s methodology in a statement accompanying the announcement. She remarked, “Our work this year has proven something we suspected all along. AI can support premium narrative filmmaking, but only with substantial amounts of human craft, skill, judgment, and time. That’s not a limitation of the technology. That’s the point. The filmmakers who thrive in the next decade will be the ones who bring decades of storytelling instinct to these new tools, and ‘Misaligned’ is where we put that to work at feature scale.”
The project comes less than a year after Tilly Norwood became a divisive figure in the entertainment sector. Initial claims that the AI character was being developed for representation by an agency sparked strong reactions from actors’ unions and filmmakers. Many voiced concerns over the implications of AI performers entering mainstream entertainment, raising serious questions about employment, creativity, and ownership within the industry.
Van der Velden also touched on the film’s tone, describing it as deliberately self-aware. She stated, “The film will absolutely be funny, chaotic, and self-aware — very Tilly. But underneath it, there’s something deeper about identity, performance, and our very human fears around AI. And yes, art will most definitely be imitating life.”
Misaligned is currently in early development, with more collaborators expected to join. It will be part of Particle 6’s broader portfolio of AI-driven projects, encompassing film, television, and branded content. While many details remain to be clarified, the project represents a significant advancement in the studio’s initiative to integrate AI-generated performances into feature-length storytelling.
