Angelina Jolie has spent years in the limelight, subtly indicating that Los Angeles was never her ideal home. Now, with a significant personal milestone behind her, the actress is ready to act on plans she’s hinted at for quite some time.

That milestone is her children reaching adulthood. Jolie shares six kids with ex-husband Brad Pitt: Maddox, 24, Pax, 22, Zahara, 21, Shiloh, 20, and twins Knox and Vivienne, both 18. With her youngest two now legal adults, the custody restrictions that once kept her in the city no longer apply.

This change is precisely what is motivating her next big move. Jolie has confirmed she is preparing to leave Los Angeles and will divide her time among various locations worldwide, a decision she openly discussed in a recent interview with L’Officiel. Reflecting on the upcoming changes, Jolie described this moment as the conclusion of an era in her life.

Having been born and raised in Los Angeles, Jolie raised all six of her children there. However, she has previously indicated that her stay was not entirely voluntary. In an earlier conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, she explained that while she grew up in the city, she remained there due to her custody arrangement following her divorce from Pitt, stating she would finally be free to leave once her youngest children turned 18.

A clear indication that her departure is imminent came in May when Jolie listed her historic Los Feliz estate for sale at $29.85 million. This property, a piece of cinematic history built in 1913, spans two acres and features six bedrooms and ten bathrooms. Jolie acquired it in 2017 following her split from Pitt.

According to previous reports, the home has undergone renovations and was being shown to pre-qualified buyers as Jolie prepared for her eventual exit. Sources suggest she is considering several international locations, with reports specifically mentioning Cambodia, where her son Maddox was born and where she has strong humanitarian ties, as well as France and parts of Africa related to her ongoing charitable work.

This international focus aligns perfectly with Jolie’s vision for this next chapter. She has expressed a desire to continue her work with the United Nations while contributing to communities in Cambodia, Vietnam, and across Africa, alongside a deeper commitment to directing and producing rather than centering her life around traditional acting roles in Hollywood.

Jolie has also been candid about her feelings of disconnection from the broader culture of the city. She has described Hollywood as not being a particularly healthy environment, framing her eventual departure as less about escaping a place and more about seeking authenticity and stability for herself and her children after years of upheaval following her divorce.

Privacy has been a recurring theme throughout this transition. Jolie has consistently emphasized that fame was never something she wanted for her children, noting in past interviews that several of them, particularly Shiloh, deeply value their privacy and had little choice in growing up under public scrutiny.

With her youngest children now adults and her expansive Los Feliz property officially on the market, Jolie’s long-anticipated departure from Los Angeles appears to be shifting from speculation to reality. For an actress who has spent years describing this moment as something she was simply waiting for, it seems the wait may finally be over.
