‘Avatar: Seven Havens’ Trailer Reveals Korra’s Successor and Episode Release Details
The Avatar franchise has been expanding rapidly over the past year, with a high-profile animated theatrical release and an ongoing live-action adaptation on Netflix. Amid this growth, one project stands out as the most eagerly awaited by longtime fans: the next animated series that continues the story after ‘The Legend of Korra.’
This series, titled ‘Avatar: Seven Havens,’ is crafted by the original creators of ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender,’ Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. Set 225 years after Korra’s narrative concluded, it follows Pavi, a young Earthbender who learns she is the next Avatar in a world ravaged by a catastrophic event that has turned society against her.
The full trailer has finally been released, providing fans with an in-depth look at Pavi’s journey alongside her long-lost twin sister, Nisha. Unlike previous Avatars who were welcomed as saviors, Pavi is seen as a destroyer by the remnants of civilization, compelling her to conceal her identity as she and Nisha strive to uncover their origins and salvage what remains of the Seven Havens before they collapse.
In conjunction with the trailer, Paramount+ has detailed how the series will be released starting October 9. Contrary to earlier reports suggesting a full 26-episode drop, only the first three episodes will be available on launch day, with three more episodes released weekly, culminating in the final four episodes on October 30.
The voice cast for this new chapter includes Saheli Khan as Pavi, Aishu Devan as Nisha, Akshay Khanna as Karthik, Major Curda as Jae, Sakina Jaffrey as Agam, Darren Barnet as Daemin, Dianne Doan as Zi, and Dee Bradley Baker voicing both Geet and Ruhi. Produced by Nickelodeon Animation and Avatar Studios, the animation is handled by La Chouette Compagnie, with original music composed by Jeremy Zuckerman, a familiar name from the franchise’s earlier works.
Executive producer Sehaj Sethi has shared insights into how the show’s world-building is deeply rooted in real cultural influences. In an interview with Polygon, Sethi noted that while ‘Seven Havens’ is set approximately 225 years after ‘The Legend of Korra,’ its fantastical setting is significantly inspired by AAPI and Indigenous cultures, highlighting the location name Ellora as a reference to the real-world Ellora Caves, an ancient Indian complex of monasteries and temples.
This cultural foundation aligns with a franchise that is ambitiously expanding its scope. ‘Seven Havens’ follows the theatrical animated film ‘Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender,’ which became a Paramount+ exclusive after the studio’s merger with Skydance Media, and it runs parallel to Netflix’s live-action adaptation, which is already progressing toward its third season.
For fans who have been with the franchise since Aang emerged from the iceberg, Pavi signifies a fresh direction: she is the first Avatar since Korra to lead a major series and the first to be feared rather than celebrated by the world she is destined to protect. This shift in dynamic has already ignited speculation about how her journey will diverge from those of her predecessors.
With a confirmed release date and a staggered episode rollout designed to maintain audience engagement, ‘Avatar: Seven Havens’ is set to become one of the most significant animated events of the fall.
