‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Rumored to Include Six Universes in Major Multiverse Storyline
Recent reports indicate that ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ will significantly expand the Marvel multiverse by incorporating at least six distinct universes, merging characters and narratives from various realities into one grand crossover event.
As per industry insider Alex Perez, the film was initially anticipated to encompass a wider array of universes, but current insights suggest a more focused selection of six primary worlds.
Perez states that the universes involved will include Earth-616, the main Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Earth-828, which is linked to the Fantastic Four. The X-Men universe is also expected to play a significant role, bringing in characters from Fox’s earlier mutant films.
In addition to these, Doctor Doom’s original universe is reportedly part of the mix, along with a pocket dimension described as a hidden or isolated reality. Another exciting addition is Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man universe, continuing the trend of reintroducing legacy characters from previous superhero franchises.
Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and penned by Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely, ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is produced by Marvel Studios and AGBO, with distribution handled by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. This film serves as a direct sequel to ‘Avengers: Endgame’ and marks the 39th installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The storyline revolves around a monumental convergence of heroes from across the multiverse. The premise suggests that the Avengers, Wakandans, New Avengers, Fantastic Four, and X-Men will unite from different realities to confront a common threat posed by Doctor Doom, portrayed by Robert Downey Jr., who is set as the central antagonist driving the multiversal conflict.
This film is part of Marvel’s larger Multiverse Saga, which was initially centered around ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars.’ However, those plans have evolved over time due to creative shifts within Marvel Studios. The Kang storyline has been reworked, leading to a new focus on Doctor Doom as the saga’s primary villain.
‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is set to hit theaters on December 18, 2026, with its sequel, ‘Avengers: Secret Wars,’ scheduled for December 17, 2027. Both films are anticipated to wrap up the current phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and unite characters from decades of Marvel and related film franchises.
Filming for ‘Doomsday’ took place from 2025 to 2026 at Pinewood Studios in the UK, along with additional international locations. The project aims to be a large-scale crossover event, bringing together multiple superhero worlds that were previously distinct.
For now, the inclusion of these six universes is based on reports from sources like Alex Perez, and Marvel Studios has yet to officially confirm the complete list of worlds that will be featured in the film.
