‘Avengers: Doomsday’ may be available to some international audiences a few days ahead of its official U.S. premiere.

Currently, the film is slated to hit U.S. theaters on December 18, 2026. However, new reports indicate that several countries, including Brazil, Italy, and Norway, are now set for a December 16, 2026 release date. This means fans in those regions could experience the film up to two days earlier than those in North America.

The early release dates were first noted in a post on X, where The Beyond Reporter wrote, “’Avengers: Doomsday’ premieres on December 16th in Brazil, 2 days before the US.” The post quickly garnered attention among Marvel enthusiasts eagerly tracking updates about this highly anticipated film.

Disney had previously moved ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ from its original May 2026 release window to December 18. This decision was announced in May 2025 and was described as a scheduling adjustment to allow more time for filming and post-production. Concurrently, the studio also rescheduled ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ to December 17, 2027.

Early international releases are common for major Hollywood blockbusters. Marvel Studios has frequently premiered films in select global markets ahead of the U.S. launch, with Brazil often among the countries receiving earlier screenings. This strategy is typically employed to generate global buzz and mitigate piracy risks in specific regions.

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, marking their return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe after ‘Avengers: Endgame.’ The film also features Robert Downey Jr. in a new role as Doctor Doom, alongside a large ensemble cast that includes Pedro Pascal, Anthony Mackie, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Vanessa Kirby, Simu Liu, and Tom Hiddleston.

The movie expands the MCU by introducing characters from other Marvel film universes. Actors from Fox’s X-Men franchise, including Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James Marsden, and Alan Cumming, are set to reprise their roles, enhancing the scale of this crossover event.

Filming for ‘Doomsday’ took place from April to September 2025 at Pinewood Studios in the UK, along with additional location shoots. Actor Anthony Mackie previously hinted at the story’s scale, stating in an interview that “everyone is expendable,” suggesting high stakes and significant character consequences.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has also characterized the upcoming crossover event ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ as one of the most ambitious projects the studio has ever undertaken, indicating that ‘Doomsday’ will pave the way for even larger multiverse narratives.

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is part of Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and is expected to unite multiple hero teams, including the Avengers, Wakandans, New Avengers, Fantastic Four, and X-Men, all confronting Doctor Doom in a multiverse-level conflict.

While the official U.S. release remains on December 18, the updated international listings suggest that some fans may not have to wait as long to witness one of Marvel’s most significant crossover films yet.
