‘Avengers: Endgame Encore’ Popcorn Buckets Now Available Including Light-Up Design
Movie theater popcorn buckets have evolved into a unique category of collector’s items, a trend initiated by AMC in 2019. Since then, various chains have been competing to create increasingly intricate designs, from Galactus’s impressive nine-liter bucket to a variety of anniversary rereleases this year, showcasing that the novelty container craze is far from over.
This trend is now intersecting with one of Marvel’s most nostalgic moves this year. Disney’s choice to re-release ‘Avengers: Endgame‘ in theaters is not only about revisiting a beloved conclusion but also part of a strategic rollout aimed at introducing a new premium theatrical format ahead of December’s ‘Avengers: Doomsday.’
With tickets for ‘Avengers: Endgame Encore’ now available, the lineup of collectible concession items related to the September 25 rerelease has officially launched. This collection features a light-up Iron Man helmet bucket, a Nano-Gauntlet popcorn container, and an Arc Reactor tin. The Iron Man helmet bucket is a full-size design equipped with LED lights in the eyes that project “I Love You 3000” onto nearby surfaces, referencing Tony Stark’s poignant farewell to his daughter Morgan. Additionally, the Nano-Gauntlet container is modeled after the film’s climactic snap and stands an impressive sixteen inches tall.
While pricing for the buckets has yet to be officially announced by AMC or other participating chains, estimates based on similar large-format buckets suggest they may range from $60 to $80. Tickets are already available through Fandango and directly via participating theater chains, with Fandango also offering its own limited-edition popcorn bucket bundle tied to the ticket on-sale.
The collectible rollout coincides with a rerelease that offers more than just a typical anniversary screening. ‘Avengers: Endgame Encore’ features a custom introduction, additional footage, and a special end tag, extending the total runtime to approximately three hours and five minutes. This new content, which connects ‘Endgame’ and ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ will be exclusive to IMAX and the newly introduced Infinity Vision format, rather than standard theatrical showings.
Infinity Vision is a format developed by Marvel after losing access to IMAX screens for the December release of ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ as IMAX committed its screens to Denis Villeneuve’s ‘Dune: Part Three’ during that window. This format ensures that participating theaters meet Disney’s technical standards, including the largest available screens, laser projection, and premium immersive audio, allowing Marvel to guarantee a consistent big-screen experience without relying solely on IMAX.
Using ‘Endgame Encore’ to introduce Infinity Vision provides audiences with a low-stakes opportunity to familiarize themselves with the new format ahead of ‘Doomsday’s’ actual release. This strategy reflects a broader trend this year of rereleases serving as marketing tools, following similar popcorn bucket launches tied to ‘The Transformers: The Movie’s’ 40th anniversary and Pixar’s ‘Cars’ 20th anniversary celebration.
Given the rapid rise in value of past Marvel-themed buckets, with previous ‘Endgame’ and ‘Fantastic Four’ buckets fetching $75 or more on resale markets, this new wave of collectibles is likely to see similar high demand once they become available at theater counters.
