Fox has officially announced the premiere date for the new ‘Baywatch’ reboot, positioning it as one of its flagship projects for 2027. The series is set to debut in late January 2027, aligning with the network’s midseason schedule rather than the traditional fall lineup.

During a media call, Fox scheduling chief Dan Harrison shared insights about the decision, noting the network’s successful history of launching major hits in the middle of the TV season. Fox president Michael Thorn emphasized the significance of the revival, stating that ‘Baywatch’ is one of television’s most iconic franchises.

“There’s only one Baywatch,” Thorn remarked. “It’s one of the most iconic, popular television franchises in TV history.”

The network’s confidence in the reboot is evident, as Fox executives report that advertisers are already rallying behind the series months ahead of its launch. Toyota has signed on as the exclusive automobile partner, with another significant beer sponsorship expected to follow soon.

While Fox has not confirmed the exact details of the premiere, many speculate that the reboot could debut following one of the NFL playoff games in January, a strategy that has historically led to successful launches for Fox shows.

Thorn acknowledged the pressure that comes with reviving such a beloved series, particularly since the original ‘Baywatch’ became a global pop culture sensation in the 1990s. “There’s a lot of pressure on us to try to make it great,” he stated. “But there’s no way you don’t take that shot.”

The new ‘Baywatch’ features a fresh cast distinct from the original, including actors, athletes, influencers, and social media stars. The reboot stars Stephen Amell, Shay Mitchell, Noah Beck, Livvy Dunne, and Brooks Nader, with original cast members Erika Eleniak and David Chokachi returning to reprise their roles.

The original ‘Baywatch’ became a global phenomenon, known for its beach action, lifeguard drama, and iconic red swimsuits. It transformed stars like Pamela Anderson and David Hasselhoff into household names and enjoyed immense ratings success for years.

Although Fox has yet to reveal many plot details, the network aims for this reboot to be a significant television event. Executives have labeled the series a “priority” and are strategically planning its launch to maximize viewership.

Fans are already expressing mixed feelings about the reboot online. Some are eager to see ‘Baywatch’ return with a younger cast and updated style, while others are doubtful about whether the new iteration can capture the original’s charm. Nevertheless, the buzz surrounding the series indicates a strong interest in how Fox will handle the franchise.

For now, viewers will have to wait a few months before the lifeguards make their official return to the beach in early 2027.
