Be Careful About News of an Elden Ring Movie
Share:

Recently, rumors started spreading online about an Elden Ring movie being directed by Alex Garland for A24. The story first appeared on a website called Nexus Point News. The headline read:
“EXCLUSIVE: Alex Garland Set To Direct ‘Elden Ring’ Film For A24.”

According to the article, the movie was supposed to be Garland’s next project, with filming expected to start in 2026. This made a lot of fans excited. But soon after the article went live, Nexus Point News took it down without explaining why.

The story got a lot of attention because of a post on X by a user named Wario64. This account is known for sharing breaking news about video games and has over a million followers. People trust it because it usually posts accurate information.

However, not everyone was convinced. Some people noticed that Nexus Point News was not well-known for breaking entertainment news. A ResetEra gaming forum thread discussed the news, and some users questioned the source. One person on the forum said,
Nexus point news is pretty reliable, they are breaking more and more news before the traditional trades.

When the news started looking suspicious, Wario64 deleted the original tweet and posted an update saying the story had been removed.

The Verge reached out to Nexus Point News for clarification. The site’s editor-in-chief, Demet Koc, responded but chose not to comment. A24’s representative, Sophia Shin, also refused to say anything on the matter.

An Elden Ring movie does sound possible. In early 2022, FromSoftware, the game’s developer, mentioned wanting to expand the franchise beyond video games. George R.R. Martin, who helped create the game’s world, also hinted that some kind of adaptation might be coming.

Additionally, FromSoftware is about to release Elden Ring: Nightreign, a multiplayer spinoff. An official movie announcement would make sense at a time like this.

However, there is no real proof that a movie is happening. The story appears to be just a rumor that got out of hand. Even the ResetEra admin locked the forum threads about the news, saying,
For a site no one’s heard of, they sure have a lot of exclusives.

This situation shows how quickly rumors can spread online, especially when shared by popular accounts. It’s important to double-check sources before getting too excited about entertainment news.

For now, there is no official word about an Elden Ring movie, so fans should be careful about believing unverified information.

Until something more concrete comes out, it’s best to treat any Elden Ring movie news with caution.
