Brad Pitt Confirms ‘Ocean’s 14’ Is Officially Moving Forward With Original Cast
Brad Pitt has long sidestepped direct inquiries about the potential reunion of the original crew from the ‘Ocean’s’ franchise, often opting for humor instead of concrete answers. However, he has now provided genuine confirmation, signaling a notable change after years filled with speculation, teased scripts, and stalled production timelines.
The ‘Ocean’s’ franchise has been a cherished part of Hollywood’s heist genre since the release of Steven Soderbergh’s 2001 original. Yet, the prospect of a fourth installment has often felt just out of reach. George Clooney hinted at a completed script back in 2023, and while interest has gradually increased, confirmation from the cast has been scarce until now.
During a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Pitt confirmed that George Clooney, Matt Damon, and Julia Roberts will join him for ‘Ocean’s 14.’ When asked about the reunion, Pitt expressed his excitement for the material Clooney has crafted. “Yeah, we’re figuring that out now,” Pitt stated. “George wrote a banger of a script that’s actually worth getting up and going, telling another one.”

Despite his enthusiasm for the script, Pitt admitted to feeling a bit apprehensive about the reunion, considering the group’s long-standing history. He mentioned being “a little concerned” about the dynamics once they all reunite on set, predicting that “the hijinks will ensue” among the longtime castmates when filming begins.
This kind of chemistry has always been a key element of what made the original trilogy successful. Clooney has previously shared his thoughts on the appeal of revisiting these characters after so many years. In a conversation with Variety, he elaborated on the creative angle of bringing the crew back for another job. “There was something about the idea that we’re too old to do what we used to do, but we’re still smart enough to know how to get away with something, that just appeals to me,” Clooney said. “They’ve lost a step, and they need to find a way to work around their limitations.”
In addition to Pitt, Clooney, Damon, and Roberts, Don Cheadle is also confirmed to return for the sequel, with Andy Garcia set to reprise his role as casino owner Terry Benedict. Warner Bros. has already approved the film’s budget, although an official production start date has yet to be determined.
The journey to this point has not been entirely straightforward. Filmmakers, including Edward Berger, were previously in discussions to direct the project but ultimately stepped back, reportedly out of respect for Soderbergh’s ongoing connection to the franchise. David Leitch, known for directing ‘Bullet Train’ and ‘The Fall Guy,’ has emerged as the leading candidate for directing duties, though his involvement has not yet been officially confirmed.
With the script completed, the budget secured, and now direct confirmation from Pitt himself, ‘Ocean’s 14’ seems closer to becoming a reality than ever before in its long, rumor-filled development history. Given the anticipation surrounding this specific ensemble’s return to the screen, fans finally have a solid reason to believe that the wait is almost over.
