New York City has emerged as a prominent horror backdrop in recent cinema, and it appears that Paramount and John Krasinski are fully embracing this trend.

The production of ‘A Quiet Place Part III’ has been making its way through the city since May, providing onlookers with increasingly impressive glimpses of the sequel in action. The latest footage, captured in the Seaport district, stands out as particularly striking.

Cillian Murphy has been spotted filming at the Seaport location for the upcoming horror sequel, with behind-the-scenes footage and images circulating widely on social media. Principal photography began on May 10, with Arnau Valls Colomer as the cinematographer. The production has traversed various New York locations, treating the city itself as a co-star in ways that fans of the franchise will find instantly recognizable.

The new footage from the Seaport showcases an action-packed sequence filmed amidst Pride Parade festivities, along with a later scene where Murphy raises a prop rifle alongside two extras. John Krasinski was on set directing both sequences. The shared footage and photographs have generated considerable excitement regarding the film’s scale and tone.

Set photos from the production have already hinted that Murphy and franchise newcomer Jack O’Connell are at the center of the film’s most intense action, with both actors seen fleeing through New York streets from an unseen threat in earlier filming days. The Seaport material adds another layer to this narrative, suggesting a film that weaves its action through recognizable New York settings in ways that will resonate with audiences.

Murphy reprises his role as Emmett, the resilient survivor he first portrayed in ‘A Quiet Place Part II.’ Emmett was introduced as a friend of John Krasinski’s Lee Abbott, a character who reluctantly assisted the Abbott family in navigating an alien-infested world and became a fan favorite throughout the second film.

The returning cast includes Emily Blunt as Evelyn Abbott and Millicent Simmonds as Regan Abbott, alongside Noah Jupe reprising his role, with new additions Jack O’Connell, Katy O’Brian, and Jason Clarke joining the ensemble. The blend of returning franchise staples and high-profile newcomers has generated significant anticipation, and the footage captured on New York streets only amplifies this excitement.

Choosing New York as the primary filming location is a deliberate nod to the world the franchise has been building. ‘A Quiet Place: Day One,’ the 2024 prequel directed by Michael Sarnoski, was set in New York City during the initial alien invasion and starred Lupita Nyong’o, Joseph Quinn, and Djimon Hounsou, establishing the city as ground zero for the franchise’s mythology. Krasinski’s decision to return there for the trilogy’s conclusion suggests a purposeful narrative closure.

Krasinski announced the start of production on social media in May, sharing a photo from the set featuring a clapperboard positioned in front of the Manhattan Bridge Arch and Colonnade in Chinatown, captioned “Here. We. Go! Part III.” This post alone was enough to ignite the fanbase’s enthusiasm. The following months of filming, along with the steady stream of set footage reaching the internet, have maintained that excitement.

‘A Quiet Place Part III’ is set to be released by Paramount Pictures on July 30, 2027. The film is being positioned as the conclusion to the trilogy that began with the original 2018 film. With Krasinski returning as director, writer, and producer, the creative continuity that fans have been hoping for seems to be intact.

Together, the films in the franchise have grossed over $900 million worldwide, establishing one of modern horror’s most successful and tonally distinct series, raising the stakes for Part III considerably. A prop rifle at a Seaport, a Pride Parade in the background, and an Oscar winner in the frame suggest that this concluding chapter will be worth the wait.
