‘Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival’ Release Date Set for October 8
For decades, the ‘Hellraiser’ franchise has established its legacy through themes of flesh, chains, and philosophical dread, leaving a significant mark across eleven films, comics, and literature. Despite its extensive reach, this iconic horror series has never had a dedicated video game, a gap that has puzzled fans who believe Pinhead and his Cenobites deserve an interactive experience.
That is about to change in just a few months. Developer Saber Interactive is working on what appears to be one of the most ambitious horror game releases of the year, with a project that carries the full creative weight of the franchise’s origins. The story for ‘Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival’ was crafted in direct collaboration with Clive Barker himself, giving this game a legitimacy that no other adaptation in the franchise has achieved.
Bloody Disgusting has reported that ‘Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival’ is set to launch on October 8 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, perfectly timed for the peak of the horror season. The game is being developed using Unreal Engine 5, with Emil Esov as game director, and key creative roles filled by art director Petra Nikolić and narrative director Anthony De Fault.
Players will take on the first-person role of biker gang member Aidan Lynch, who inadvertently triggers a nightmare when he and his girlfriend Sunny encounter the Genesis Configuration, a supernatural puzzle box that summons the Cenobites. Classic creatures from the franchise, including Butterball, Chatterer, and Deepthroat, will appear alongside new enemies, and the game’s setting will alternate between reality and the Cenobites’ labyrinthine dimension.
One of the most exciting aspects of this project is the return of Doug Bradley, who reprises his iconic role as the voice of Pinhead, marking his comeback to the character after voicing him in the first eight films of the series.
Saber Interactive first teased the game on July 17, 2025, officially announced it on July 22, and by August 2025, a 45-minute demo had already created significant buzz at Gamescom.
The game combines combat, stealth, and puzzle-solving within its survival horror framework, allowing players to craft items and switch between melee weapons and firearms based on the enemy type, with melee weapons breaking after a certain number of uses. For collectors, Boss Team Games has prepared three different collector’s editions, featuring a recreation of the Genesis Configuration puzzle box, a statue, an art book, a SteelBook case, and an art print signed by Barker himself.
With the release date of October 8 confirmed and Doug Bradley’s Pinhead ready to make sinners suffer once again, the only question left for survival horror fans is whether they have the courage to open the box when it arrives. Are you brave enough to step into Aidan’s nightmare, or will you leave this one on the shelf?
