‘Daemons of the Shadow Realm’ Episode 22 Release Date, Time and Where to Watch
Hiromu Arakawa’s post ‘Fullmetal Alchemist’ anime is racing toward its finale, and fans are eagerly anticipating ‘Daemons of the Shadow Realm’ Episode 22. With twins Yuru and Asa growing closer and Ivan’s true intentions looming over the series, the wait for each new episode has become a cherished part of the viewing experience for fans of this Square Enix adaptation.
Here’s what you need to know about the release schedule, the exact time it will be available for international audiences, and where to stream it once it goes live.
‘Daemons of the Shadow Realm’ has maintained a steady Saturday release schedule since its debut, with episodes airing in Japan before becoming available internationally. Episode 20 was slated to release on August 22, 2026, continuing this established weekly rhythm. This pattern continued with Episode 21, titled “Zashiki-Warashi and Higashi Village,” which was confirmed to stream in Japanese with English subtitles on August 29, 2026.
Following this same weekly schedule, Episode 22 is expected to premiere on Saturday, September 5, 2026, although an official title and synopsis had not been released at the time of writing. The series airs new episodes every Saturday across several major regions, including the United States, a pattern that has been consistently followed since April. ‘Daemons of the Shadow Realm’ is confirmed to run for a total of 24 episodes, as indicated by the DVD and Blu-ray listing on the anime’s official website, meaning Episode 22 will bring the story just two episodes away from its conclusion.
For international viewers, the streaming platform for this series remains the same. ‘Daemons of the Shadow Realm’ is currently available to watch on Crunchyroll. Crunchyroll streams the anime across North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, the CIS region, the Indian Subcontinent, and Southeast Asia.
In Japan, the show continues to air on a variety of regional networks. The anime broadcasts on Tokyo MX, BS11, Gunma TV, Tochigi TV, HTB Hokkaido TV, Aomori Broadcasting, Miyagi TV, Sakuranbo TV, and Television Niigata Network, among others. Based on the release timing for the previous episodes, Episode 22 should follow the same international release window, with Episode 21 having gone live at 9 AM PDT and 12 PM EST for subscribers outside Japan.
Episode 21 picked up directly from a dramatic cliffhanger. In Episode 20, the battle between Ivan and Yuru’s daemons intensified, with Left critically injured after being stabbed in the chest by a seemingly poisoned blade. The aftermath of that confrontation shifted the group’s focus as they headed into the latest chapter.
The stakes escalated significantly from there. Ivan revealed himself to be far more dangerous than anticipated, severing Left’s arm and stunning Dera in the process. As Dera and Yuru raced to find the assassin, Dera noted that capturing and interrogating him alive might not even be feasible. The ensuing fight was one of the most memorable in the series thus far, made even more shocking by Ivan’s apparent confession to killing Yuru and Asa’s parents.

That revelation completely reshapes Yuru’s motivations moving forward. The biggest shock of the arc came when Ivan nonchalantly claimed he had killed Mine and Nagisa, Yuru and Asa’s parents, transforming what was once a distant mystery into a personal quest for vengeance.
Meanwhile, the power struggle within the Kagemori clan intensified, as Asuma turned against Shingo, only for Ivan to appear and kill Shingo before he could divulge any crucial information, allowing Ivan to escape once again.
With Ivan emerging as a far greater threat than initially perceived, much of the excitement for Episode 22 revolves around whether Yuru will finally confront him. Yuru’s quest for his parents has been driven by uncertainty until now, and learning that Ivan claims responsibility for their deaths could fuel his determination to track the assassin down.
The fractured dynamics within the Kagemori family are also likely to play a significant role in the upcoming episode. Episode 21 hinted at whether Asuma could complete what he started with Shingo, or if Ivan’s unpredictability would force the rival factions into a temporary, desperate alliance to survive. Given the manga-based story’s handling of twists so far, Episode 22 appears poised to either deepen that fragile alliance or shatter it entirely, though nothing has been officially confirmed.
Critical reception has remained strong as the series approaches its climax. ‘Daemons of the Shadow Realm’ currently holds a score of 7.84 on MyAnimeList and 7.8 on IMDb, with audiences largely impressed by its consistent animation quality, Arakawa’s distinctive style, and its storytelling, action, soundtrack, and character development. With only a few episodes left before the season concludes, each new installment carries more significance than the last.
With Ivan’s shocking admission, Left’s injuries, and the fracturing Kagemori clan, there’s a lot at stake regarding what Yuru and Asa decide to do next. What do you think their next move against Ivan should be once Episode 22 finally arrives?
