DC Comics has just revealed an exciting new chapter in its Elseworlds saga. Titled Batman: Gotham by Gaslight – A League for Justice, the series is set to debut on July 9. This new story continues the unique and thrilling adventures of Batman in a very different time — the Victorian era.

Last year, fans were introduced to Gotham by Gaslight: The Kryptonian Age by Andy Diggle and Leandro Fernández, a reimagined DC universe set in the 19th century.

In that series, Batman was not the only hero. Many of DC’s famous characters were brought into this alternate timeline, including ones connected to Superman’s world. Now, the story continues with the sequel, A League for Justice.

In this new series, once again by Andy Diggle and Leandro Fernández, readers will see the birth of a new kind of Justice League — not the one we know from modern comics and movies, but a version that fits into this steam-powered, Gilded Age world.

Batman and his fellow heroes will travel across the globe, from the wide-open plains of the American Midwest to the icy, dangerous lands of the Arctic.

Why? Because they’re chasing a mystery that began in the previous story — a mystery connected to powerful alien artifacts from the Kryptonian Age. These objects may hold secrets about Superman’s world and the fate of Earth itself.

DC promises that A League for Justice will be a “jaw-dropping sequel”, filled with stunning artwork, high-stakes adventure, and dramatic twists. It’s a fresh take on characters fans know and love, set in a time of steam engines, top hats, and secret societies.

If you’re a fan of alternate universe stories, or just love seeing the Justice League in a totally different light, this is a series you won’t want to miss.

Mark your calendars — Batman: Gotham by Gaslight – A League for Justice arrives July 9.
