Disney Exec Discusses Canceled ‘Bachelorette’ Season – Will Taylor Frankie Paul’s Footage Air?
A senior Disney executive has addressed the status of Taylor Frankie Paul’s canceled season of ‘The Bachelorette,’ revealing that the network still lacks a definitive answer.
During Deadline’s Reality TV Summit, ABC reality chief Rob Mills spoke about the situation months after the season was pulled just days before its scheduled premiere. Mills acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding the future of the unaired footage, stating, “It’s a good question,” when asked if the season would ever be released. He further noted, “It’s still day-to-day, so we’ll see.”
Mills emphasized that the current priority is not on airing the show but on Paul’s well-being. He remarked, “On a personal level … we want to make sure she’s OK.”
The season was canceled in March following the emergence of a video that allegedly showed a domestic violence incident involving Paul and her ex-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen. At that time, ABC issued a statement to Entertainment Weekly, explaining the decision: “In light of the newly released video just surfaced today, we have made the decision to not move forward with the new season of The Bachelorette at this time, and our focus is on supporting the family.”
Since then, the legal battle between Paul and Mortensen has continued to unfold. Both parties have made allegations of violence, and the dispute also includes custody arrangements for their young son.
In a recent court hearing, a commissioner described their relationship as “very toxic” and recommended that both parties adhere to protective orders for several years. The court also encouraged them to pursue a more stable co-parenting arrangement.
Currently, the fate of Paul’s ‘Bachelorette’ season remains uncertain, with Disney keeping the possibility open but making no commitments regarding its eventual airing.
