Disney+ is set to introduce TikTok-style content to its platform following a new partnership between Disney and TikTok. This collaboration will allow fan-created videos to be featured across both services.

The companies have described this agreement as a “first-of-its-kind” content-sharing initiative. Selected TikTok creators will have the opportunity to produce videos utilizing Disney-related materials, including official photos, clips, and various assets linked to Disney characters and franchises.

According to Disney and TikTok, creators who opt to participate will have their videos considered for a special collection that will be showcased on TikTok as well as on Disney+ through the platform’s vertical video feature, known as Verts.

This initiative aims to connect Disney’s extensive library of characters and narratives with the online communities that are already dedicated to creating content around them. Fans of franchises such as Marvel, Star Wars, and Moana frequently produce reaction videos, theories, edits, and discussions on social media, and Disney is now looking to bring some of that fan engagement closer to its streaming service.

Disney’s chief marketing and brand officer, Asad Ayaz, emphasized that the partnership reflects the significant role fans have always played in the company’s storytelling.

“The best storytellers are fans first,” Ayaz said. “That has always been true at Disney, and today, fans are celebrating our stories in entirely new ways. This collaboration creates a new bridge between the stories we tell and the creativity they inspire, giving creators a bigger stage to share what they’ve made, and audiences more to discover on Disney+ every day.”

TikTok also emphasized the rising significance of creators in shaping entertainment discussions. Dawn Yang, TikTok’s global head of entertainment, mentioned that the partnership will help showcase fan creativity to a broader audience.

“Creators are at the heart of everything we do at TikTok. Their creativity extends the life of films and shows into conversations that fans discover and share,” Yang stated. “Together with Disney, we’re bringing the authentic creator expression of the TikTok community to Disney+, inviting audiences to experience the shared creativity that makes fandom so powerful.”

The partnership is set to launch first in the United States within the next few months, with plans to expand to other regions later. However, Disney and TikTok have yet to announce a specific launch date.

This deal comes as streaming platforms increasingly focus on short-form vertical videos. With more viewers consuming content on their mobile devices, many services are adapting to the popularity of apps like TikTok and Instagram Reels.

Earlier this year, Disney introduced its Verts feature, allowing users to watch vertical videos within Disney+. The company had previously indicated that creator-made content could eventually be integrated into that experience.

Other streaming platforms are also exploring similar features. Services such as Netflix, Peacock, and HBO Max have been adding more short-form video options as they seek new ways to engage audiences.

For Disney, this partnership is not just about increasing video offerings on Disney+. It also acknowledges the crucial role fans play in sustaining franchises between major releases. Online communities are now vital in generating excitement around movies and shows, and Disney seems ready to incorporate that fan dialogue into the streaming experience itself.
