Marvel continues its exciting lead-up to December with fresh teasers, posters, and fan events for its highly anticipated team-up film. The latest promo for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ takes the campaign to an unexpected location: a historic fortress in southern Spain.

This new clip emphasizes the film’s central villain, Doctor Doom, who has been front and center since the initial trailer. His signature green color has become a defining element of the marketing.

The 40-second video showcases a stunning night aerial view of the Alcazaba of Málaga, clearly labeled on screen. The ancient fortress and the Roman theater below are illuminated in a deep green light, creating an eerie and almost supernatural atmosphere. This striking visual aligns perfectly with Doom’s character, especially since Robert Downey Jr. donned the iconic green at CinemaCon in April.

The promo concludes with the familiar message that fans have been eagerly awaiting: ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ hits theaters on December 18. This footage appears to serve as a clever piece of environmental marketing, utilizing a real landmark as its backdrop.

The choice of location is significant. On October 3, San Diego Comic-Con Málaga hosted a Disney presentation that attracted over 3,000 fans, with ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ as the highlight. Actors Anthony Mackie, David Harbour, and Winston Duke made a surprise appearance after a recorded greeting from directors Anthony and Joe Russo, unveiling an extended trailer.

Marvel also revealed a new international poster at the event, featuring Doctor Doom on a staircase in front of his castle, flanked by three masked Latverian Witches in green, orange, and purple. The studio shared the artwork with a playful message, announcing that the witching season had arrived.

Around the same time, rumors surfaced about a new promo being filmed in Spain that would include the Latverian Witches and Doombots. However, Marvel has not confirmed this shoot, and reports did not mention Doombots, leaving those details unverified. What is evident is that the campaign has a strong connection to Spain.

Additionally, Spain will enjoy a special treat on release day, as fans there will see the film a day early on December 17, following a date change during the convention.

During the panel, the actors maintained a lighthearted atmosphere. Mackie joked about the amount of doom audiences can expect, playing on the villain’s name, and praised the Russos for giving every character a memorable moment, similar to their work in ‘Avengers: Endgame’. Harbour commended Downey’s work ethic, stating he has never seen anyone work harder, while Duke told fans they are part of the cast and the film’s conclusion.

These remarks reflect the film’s central promise: ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ will unite heroes from three universes, including the Avengers, the X-Men, and the Fantastic Four, against Doctor Doom.

The marketing push has been relentless. The first trailer debuted at CinemaCon in April, followed by a wider release in July and a second look at D23. Presales are also strong, with trackers estimating worldwide presales exceeding $100 million, and theaters are already offering Infinity Vision screenings.

The stakes are high as ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ faces competition during its release weekend. Marvel aims to recapture the box office success of its previous team-ups, which collectively grossed over $7.7 billion.

Online reactions have been enthusiastic, with fans praising the moody visuals and the concept of Doom taking over a real location. In a campaign built on secrecy, even a brief atmospheric clip is enough to spark theories. Each new image featuring green light or Latverian symbols encourages fans to rewatch the trailers.

Ultimately, the real test will come in December when the film must deliver on all the anticipation. Until then, fans can expect more promos like this one, each increasingly grand and intriguing.
