According to data released by Paramount, the new ‘Yellowstone’ spin-off ‘Dutton Ranch’ has achieved the largest series launch in the history of Paramount+. This information comes directly from Paramount’s internal streaming metrics, which monitor viewership during the initial days following the release.

The series debuted on May 15, with its first two episodes available simultaneously. Within just a week, those episodes garnered 12.9 million views, marking the most robust opening the platform has ever recorded for a series launch. This also establishes a new benchmark for Paramount+ originals.

Prior to ‘Dutton Ranch’, the record was held by ‘Mobland’, which launched in 2025 and attracted 8.8 million views in its first week. This new figure clearly surpasses that, indicating a significant surge in audience interest for Taylor Sheridan’s expanding television universe.

Paramount also showcased the same two episodes on its linear Paramount network as part of a special broadcast event. According to Nielsen data reported alongside the streaming figures, those TV airings averaged 2.9 million viewers in total. This indicates that the show performed exceptionally well across both streaming and traditional television platforms simultaneously.

‘Dutton Ranch’ continues the narrative of Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler, two of the most beloved characters from ‘Yellowstone’. The series follows their journey after the events of the ‘Yellowstone’ finale, as they leave Montana in search of a new life in South Texas. However, their attempt to escape their past is fraught with challenges, leading to new conflicts in an unfamiliar environment.

The series stars Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser in the lead roles, supported by a cast that includes Finn Little, Juan Pablo Raba, Jai Courtney, J.R. Villarreal, Marc Menchaca, Natalie Alyn Lind, Ed Harris, and Annette Bening. This ensemble brings together both familiar faces and new characters, expanding the universe beyond the original ‘Yellowstone’ ranch.

Created by Chad Feehan, who also served as showrunner and executive producer for the first season, reports indicate that Feehan will not return for season two. The show remains rooted in characters created by Taylor Sheridan and John Linson, who continue as executive producers on the project.

Produced by Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios, a diverse group of executive producers is attached to the project, including David C. Glasser, Art Linson, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Christina Alexandra Voros, Michael Friedman, Kelly Reilly, Cole Hauser, and Keith Cox. Voros directed several episodes this season, alongside Greg Yaitanes, Jessica Lowrey, and Phil Abraham.

The impressive debut underscores the enduring strength of the ‘Yellowstone’ franchise for Paramount+. Each new series linked to this universe has attracted substantial audiences, and ‘Dutton Ranch’ continues this trend significantly. With over 12 million views in its first week, it has set a new standard for streaming premieres on the platform.

This success also highlights how the ‘Yellowstone’ universe continues to evolve beyond its original backdrop. By relocating beloved characters into new settings and conflicts, the franchise keeps its audience engaged while attracting new viewers who may not have watched the original series.

For Paramount+, this launch represents a significant milestone. It demonstrates that expansive franchise storytelling remains a key driver of streaming success, particularly when it comes from an established fan base. With figures like these, ‘Dutton Ranch’ has swiftly positioned itself as one of the most successful streaming premieres of the year.
