Elizabeth Debicki is known for her bold fashion choices, and her latest appearance is no exception. With a busy schedule that includes a spy-thriller comeback, a significant Netflix project, and an eccentric fairy tale about a man made of twigs, the excitement surrounding Elizabeth Debicki’s ‘Wicker‘ press tour continues to build.

The film ‘Wicker’, an offbeat romantic comedy that debuted at Sundance in January to rave reviews, is gearing up for its theatrical release. The cast has been actively promoting the film to keep the momentum alive.

On October 13, Debicki was spotted in New York after a screening of the film, showcasing a sleek all-black leather ensemble. Her outfit featured a glossy button-up shirt paired with a knee-length pencil skirt, complemented by pointed black pumps and a chic small black bag with a chain strap.

Her outfit emphasized texture over color, with the oversized, slightly draped shirt softening the structured look of the skirt. The polished accessories maintained a clean aesthetic, while her loose, wavy blonde hair added a hint of movement to the sharp ensemble.

This look marked a departure from her appearance at the Sundance premiere in January, where she donned Bottega Veneta. Regardless of the event, Debicki consistently transforms press appearances into memorable style moments.

Based on Ursula Wills-Jones’ short story ‘The Wicker Husband’, the film tells the story of an ostracized fisherwoman, played by Olivia Colman, who, tired of her narrow-minded neighbors, commissions a local basketmaker, portrayed by Peter Dinklage, to create a husband out of wicker. Alexander Skarsgård takes on the role of the wicker creation, stepping in for Dev Patel, who was initially attached to the project in 2023.

Debicki plays the Tailor’s Wife, one of the villagers disturbed by the Fisherwoman’s unconventional new relationship. Her character embodies the town’s jealousy as the unusual romance ignites chaos and outrage.

The film’s visual appeal matches its intriguing premise. Skarsgård’s Wicker Husband suit was crafted practically by Joe Dunckley and Weta Workshop, avoiding reliance on digital effects. Directed and adapted by Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson, the film runs approximately 105 minutes and features a score by Anna Meredith.

Early reviews have been overwhelmingly positive, with one Sundance critic giving it a perfect 5 out of 5, commending the performances of Colman, Dinklage, Debicki, and Skarsgård.

‘Wicker’ also marks a reunion for Debicki and Colman, who previously starred together in ‘The Crown’ and ‘The Night Manager’. Fans of their on-screen chemistry have much to look forward to.

The marketing campaign has embraced the film’s quirky charm, with the first trailer released in late July generating buzz online, even prompting IKEA to join in with a wicker-themed joke.

Black Bear is set to release ‘Wicker’ in limited theaters on October 23, expanding nationwide on October 30. The studio will also manage the releases in the UK and Canada, the latter through its subsidiary Elevation Pictures.

Additional events are scheduled, including a KCRW partner screening at Vidiots in Los Angeles on October 18, followed by a discussion with the directors and cast members Colman, Skarsgård, and Debicki.

Debicki’s year is far from over, as she stars in David Fincher’s sequel to ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’, featuring Brad Pitt reprising his role as Cliff Booth, set for IMAX release on November 25 and Netflix on December 23. This follows her acclaimed portrayal of Princess Diana in ‘The Crown’, which earned her an Emmy, Golden Globe, and SAG awards.
